The Ministry of Justice is proposing to digitise post-1858 wills (which is good) but then to destroy, with a few exceptions, the originals (which is not 😥).
I've published a piece on my website with the aim of collating the key arguments against the Government's proposals to destroy original wills as part of a digitisation project.
Please add your thoughts in the comments and I'll try to pull it all together:

More than 10,000 images in the Sankey Photograph Archive have been digitised & online, free of charge. The Sankeys were photographers based at Barrow-in-Furness, and the collection (1900-1970) includes views of many towns and villages in Cumbria.https://t.co/IcEZvJtmcG
The next Zoom talk of our London Branch is at 2pm on Saturday 23 September when John Titterton will give a talk about wills and their related documents. Email: [email protected] for a link to join the talk (this will be sent in the week commencing September 18).
The recording of our webinar "Connecting with American cousins in completing a one-name study" is now available to view on our website. It is free for non-members for the next 90 days. https://t.co/pbWo7WOscM #Genealogy#OneNameStudies#SurnameStudies
There was a great turn out for yesterday's #AmblesideRushbearing, even with the blustery weather 🌬
Thank you to everyone who took part 👏

It was a gorgeous day on Dent Postman's Path #Cumbria. The postman came down from the station with the mail. It's now done by van but those living on the path all know the postman by name - and one couple said he even leaves a handwritten note just to say he has no post for them!
Our Walk&Talks of #TheArmitt and #BridgeHouse will return!
Once we reopen in Feb, you'll be able to explore our museum & peek inside an Ambleside icon 🏠
Look out for updates on our social media & website for more info 📲

Did you know #Cumbria Libraries & Archive Service had its own YouTube channel full of wonderful local history? No, nor did I until today! It's here https://t.co/xnXIOjWhcQ

This week's #TBT from @JulietteGregson is of Piel Castle! The image was found in some slides from the 1970s, and Piel Castle is a 14th Century fortress built to guard Barrow-in-Furness against pirates and Scots raiders.
