Progress. Now BP needs to be ‘socially challenged’ to have an adequate definition of ‘net zero carbon’ that includes all upstream and downstream emissions and where all ‘offsets’ are carbon removals in addition to what would be required for 1.5 degrees without their footprint.
@friends_earth So does peat bog restoration- in fact it's better at carbon capture and what trees do you want? Massed ranks of conifers?? Why aren't you highlighting the good stuff owners are doing with this too? #treesarenttheonlyoption!
@treesandweeds@guyshrubsole@agricology Tree planting is not the only way to capture carbon. Peatbogs used to be drained to plant conifer plantations to- bad for biodiversity. UU have been restoring peat bogs across the north west- improves water quality improve biodiversity and capture carbon. Why criticise them?
@guyshrubsole@fionaharvey just read the guardian article re planting trees. Peat bog is a great carbon sink too. @unitedutilities has been restoring its peat bogs for years instead of monoculture pine forests. Tree planting is not the only way land can be used to hold carbon!!!!
Did you know that a healthy population of earwigs can kill as many aphids as three rounds of insecticide spray? Put down the chemicals and garden naturally. #ActionForInsects

Look what happens in our towns when a space is left for nature! These stunning bee orchids were photographed by David Coward in Barrow-in-Furness earlier in the summer.
