The club’s ambition after failing to win their tenth successive title in 2021 was simply to reset and go for it again.

The Board has not prepared to compete in Europe and merely view it as a bonus. They believe that being the top dogs in Scotland is enough.

A great many fans have far greater ambitions at that level, however, and much of the current unrest is the result of Celtic’s lack of vision and leadership, which has led to a completely dysfunctional approach to recruitment and player development.

It is unfair to refer to Midtjylland as anything other than a modern and innovative operation who should be used as a template for clubs like Celtic, rather than be ridiculed as a “diddy Danish team.”
