@soyelquemazon This quote showed that American politics wanted to help the starving Irish with open arms. This is why the celebration of St. Patrick’s day is so popular because of the amount of Irish people who migrated.
Visiting the Irish famine memorial in Providence, RI showed a lot of courage that the people of Ireland had to go through to leave their country to go to a different one and leave their culture behind in order to survive.
Last but not least, this brick has a name in honor of her passing due to the great Irish Famine. It has the same last name to my professor. I wonder if they are related somehow? @soyelquemazon
Seeing this memorial of a Irish man dying of starvation did an effective job of capturing the sadness and fear of the people in Ireland. It was touching and a relief to know my great great relatives have safely traveled out of Ireland. #irish#irishfamine#memorial#ireland
I liked this quote on this brick. It shows how strong the Irish heritage is and how tight the Irish community is helping one another. #strong#irishstrong#pray
An Gorta Mor translates to the great hunger. The children in the statue brings sadness to bare the thought that children died during this famine. I enjoyed the cross on this statue because my grandmother (grandchild) of my great great grandparents who migrated….. #hunger
