🚨 JUDGE REJECTS SELF-DEFENSE CLAIM IN ROGER FORTSON CASE 🚨
A Florida judge has rejected former Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Deputy Eddie Duran’s attempt to use self-defense/Stand Your Ground immunity to avoid prosecution for the 2024 killing of 23-year-old U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Roger Fortson, a Black airman.
According to court proceedings, Duran responded to an apartment-complex disturbance call on May 3, 2024. He knocked on Fortson’s door and announced, “Sheriff’s Office.” Fortson opened the door holding a legally owned handgun pointed downward at his side. Duran then shot him within seconds.
The judge ruled that Fortson did not automatically lose his legal right to possess or openly carry a firearm inside his own home simply because someone outside announced they were law enforcement. The judge also found that prosecutors presented clear and convincing evidence sufficient to overcome Duran’s claimed self-defense immunity.
⚖️ WHAT THIS MEANS:
Duran’s manslaughter case will proceed toward trial, currently scheduled for September 28, 2026, although his attorneys have indicated they intend to appeal and have sought the judge’s removal from the case.
Roger Fortson was 23 years old, a U.S. Air Force airman, and inside his own home when he was killed.
A judge has now said the self-defense claim does not end the case. The evidence will have to be heard in court.

@Excellentspeelr@tiredofit10 You stated "The child poverty rate in Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi is around 35%." referring to the Black kids you mentioned. That is factually inaccurate. Why would you think it's OK based on my response?
CHARGED: Middle school teacher accused of seeking a child for sex. He posted $15,000 bond and went home.
JOSHUA FEEMSTER, 33. Huntsville, Madison County, Alabama. Theatre teacher at Academy for Academics and Arts Middle School. Hired July 2017.
Arrested Sept. 4 in an undercover investigation. Jail records charge him with electronic solicitation of a child. Investigators say he agreed to meet someone he believed could provide access to a child and was arrested at that meeting.
Huntsville City Schools put him on leave and barred him from every campus until further notice. The district did not say he was fired.
Madison County Jail records show he was released on a $15,000 bond.
Nine years in a middle school theatre job. One charge. Fifteen thousand dollars to walk. He should still be in jail.

@portesdi@WonderKing82 Why would pro-Palestinians opt to protest a musician and NOT the men DIRECTLY responsible for what's happening? Trying to justify not protesting the MURDERERS is crazy work.
A Black woman calling another Black woman an agent of the state over a white streamer is embarrassing. Symone deals in electoral reality and policy. Doing actual political work is not being a fed, it is how we survive in the real world.
