🚨 DRIVING RANGE PLAN 🚨
Stop hacking away at golf balls without purpose at the driving range. Use this simple driving range practice plan to make the most out of your next range session! #golf#golflife#golfer
#BenHogan believed the swing is judged at impact. These are the simple impact fundamentals that create crisp contact and a predictable ball flight.
1. Flat lead wrist
This keeps the clubface stable. A cupped lead wrist usually means an open face and a weak strike.
2. Trail wrist bent back
This is what supports the shaft lean and stops the flip. If the trail wrist straightens too early, you lose compression.
3. Trail elbow close to the hip
That keeps the arms connected and the club in front of you. When the elbow gets stuck behind you, you have to throw the hands.
4. Pushing off the back foot
Pressure moves into the lead side and you rotate through. The back foot is not passive, it helps drive the turn.
Quick feel:
Lead wrist flat, trail wrist bent, trail elbow in front of the hip, and keep turning through the ball.
Quick drill:
Hit half swing punch shots and hold the impact position for 2 seconds. If you can hold it balanced, you are building the correct impact.

⚠️ HOW TO AVOID CHUNKING THE BALL ⚠️
✅ Why it happens: You’re hanging back or collapsing at impact, which makes the club crash into the turf before the ball.
🎯 Fix it with this feel:
Imagine throwing a punch straight through the ball. As you swing, let your lead side drive forward and feel your chest and hips rotate through, delivering all your energy past the ball.
This moves your weight forward, keeps the swing shallow, and ensures the club bottoms out just ahead of the ball.
Don’t try to “hit the ground.” Let the turn and forward shift create clean contact.
Every golfer loves the idea of firing straight at the pin—but the truth is, it’s not always the smartest play. This chart breaks down proximity-to-pin stats by handicap level and shows exactly when you should play aggressive vs. when to aim for the middle.
✅ Key Takeaways:
• Pros (70s shooters) can attack from as far as 170+ yards and still expect to stay tight.
• 80s shooters should feel confident aiming at the flag inside 100 yards, but beyond 120 yards the smart play is the center of the green.
• 90s shooters are best served aiming middle once they’re outside 75 yards.
• 100s shooters should only go flag-hunting inside 50 yards—beyond that, the margin for error gets costly.
👉 The orange and red zones in the chart are your “proceed with caution” areas. The farther you are, the more dispersion widens, and the middle of the green becomes your best friend.
The lesson: Scoring lower isn’t always about hitting hero shots—it’s about playing the percentages. Center of the green often means more birdie chances and fewer blow-up holes.
Would you rather take more pins on or play the safe middle strategy? ⛳️

⚠️ HOW TO AVOID TOPPING THE BALL ⚠️
✅ Why it happens: You’re trying to help the ball into the air instead of letting the club’s loft do the work.
🎯 Fix it with this feel:
Imagine skipping a stone across a pond. As you swing, feel your trail hand stay low and move forward like you’re tossing that stone.
This keeps your posture steady, weight shifting forward, and the swing shallow through impact.
Don’t try to lift the ball. Let the club do the lifting.
🔴 CHIPPING CHEAT SHEET 🔴
1. BUMP & RUN
✅ Use a lower lofted club (7–9 iron)
✅ Ball back in stance
✅ Weight forward, hands ahead
🚫 Minimal wrist action
🎯 Land the ball early, let it roll to the hole
2. STANDARD CHIP
✅ Use a gap wedge or pitching wedge
✅ Ball center or slightly back
✅ Narrow stance, open shoulders
⚠️ Maintain triangle with arms and shoulders
🎯 Land the ball on the fringe or front of green
3. FLOP SHOT
✅ Use a lob wedge (58–64°)
✅ Ball front of stance
✅ Open clubface and stance
🏌️♂️ Accelerate through impact
🎯 Try when there’s little green to work with
