@ASTENE1997 Yes, thanks. Napier had a long-running war of words with Allen's paper which supported Outram's perspective on Napier's 'conquest if Sindh'. C Curling got sucked into it briefly as you found.

@ASTENE1997 Thanks very much for looking that one up. I did know of it. Charles Curling's mother Jane was my 3x great grandmother. What I 'm hoping for is signposts to where I might look for further information on C Curling's time in Egypt.
