The damage control I’ve been doing in Manchester trying to help people feel confident in their curls after they’ve been ruined by these treatments is overwhelming.
She keeps telling people that it won’t compromise her curls when she clearly has no knowledge about curly hair.
I want black parents to stop travelling for hours to manchester to subject their black daughters to keratin treatments by those white women on tiktok.
The message it sends is awful.
Two reasons there’s a misconception that locs are less maintenance than wearing your hair out:
1. Folks are not caring for their locs properly.
2. Folks are over complicating curly hair care.
If your set isn’t lasting more than a day or two, your focus should be on your cleansing, conditioning and styling practices — not tips to “refresh” or “reactivate” your curls.
My Curl Revival service is my new client service (for those of you without heat or chemical damage), it includes a full curl detox, conditioning, styling, a cut and coaching for £150.
Everything is included in the price, except asking for discounts…
That’ll be an extra £50 😀
@nooilsnobutter Yes, I do have a separate line. I’ve only experienced this kind of situation with clients who comment on my age when they first meet me and feel as though they can push back on my policies because I’m “the same age as their kids.”
I feel like I need to do a video on boundaries because there’s no way I should be getting calls about hair emergencies outside of my working hours. Or from my neighbours because people are showing up at my salon without appointments on my day off for “emergencies.”
