Considering the context that Eve likely gave birth to a lot of children. Survived all of those childbirths in those conditions and the only known death of her children was Abel.

I 100% believe that Adam was at the very least a caring husband to her.

It's a bone that protects the core, specifically the heart. To lose it makes you vulnerable and doesn't that create such a beautiful metaphor?
