a senior dev at my last startup quit after being denied a 10% raise.
management actually told him: "we're using cursor and ai devs now anyway, your role is mostly maintenance."
two weeks later:
the entire database architecture started lagging by 400ms out of nowhere.
turns out he had a custom cron job running that silently patched memory leaks every single night at 3 am.
management tried dumping the codebase into LLMs to find the bug, but the models obviously couldn't trace a silent leak buried in undocumented legacy infra.
he never documented it because leadership always screamed that refactoring was a "waste of shipping time."
the biggest mistake founders are making right now is thinking ai code generation replaces actual system knowledge.
generating text isn't the same thing as understanding why a complex system fails.
the most expensive engineers aren't the ones asking for a raise, they're the invisible ones keeping your product from melting down.
@Walrus_Moonboy Why don't they just watermark their plastic wrap like MTG does? Would solve at least some of these problems.
Hate to see this kind of thing.
@BarefootElleck@MegalodonVT@TommiVTClips Definitely look into it. I recently had to go to the ER and they did very little. Charged me about $3,000. Asked for an itemized bill, suddenly it was only $250~
@ClassicREbirth I wanted to do this but don't realistically have the time/passion for it anymore. But I would have loved this a week ago when I was setting it all up lol
@EvilCherryBerry Yeah this one is pretty bad. Normally I don't mind these mods as they can be a fun way to spice up run #546, but this is just blatantly misinterpreting the original. Everything is too dark and looks like it's covered in Vaseline, most of the lighting is impossible etc.
@ib35y45 People claiming this is fake have no idea how to spot a fake lol. Only way to confirm its real is to inspect the board but theres literally nothing in the image indicating its fake so far. It even looks like it has the original battery
@aqwisback@ib35y45 Looks real and looks like original battery. But they should take the board out of the shell and make sure someone didn't do a flash chip mod or something.
I use Claude Code every single day.
It probably saves me 3-4 hours on every project.
But here's what nobody says:
If I didn't know Flutter, Firebase, and how backends actually work
Claude would've destroyed my client projects by now.
It confidently writes wrong code.
It confidently misses edge cases.
It confidently breaks production.
You need the judgment to catch it.
Judgment only comes from actually learning.
AI is the gas pedal.
You still need to know how to drive.
@AestheticGamer1 Ha, honestly Dusk, I've always half-suspected (mostly in a joking manner) that you're on their payroll. You have mostly definitely built my hype over the years. I'm definitely a "journey is more important than the destination" type. As I expect many of your followers are :)
