Every July, Unionist culture comes under attack by the media, Sinn Féin, Alliance, and the SDLP, all lining up to kick the Unionist community.

Every Parade, Every Bonfire, and Every Banner are all turned into national scandals.

Just look at this July.

📍 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐡 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 – 70+ bands, 12,000 people in attendance, peaceful & family-friendly – Yet smeared continuously and painted as "controversial" in the media.

📍 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐞 – No effort to work with locals to find a solution, just weeks long condemnation and attacks. Where is the concern for the health of the community now?

📍 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐝𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 – Front page of the Irish News and painted as “intimidation” when it was simply Unionist children in fancy dress having a parade.

📍 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐋𝐨𝐝𝐠𝐞 – Decision by Cricket Club to cancel the event was taken before the Comber lodge commented. The Cricket Club even praised their relationship with the lodge. The media and political parties however went into meltdown and the Belfast Telegraph even "door stepping" the Lodge's leader.

📍𝟏𝟐𝐭𝐡 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲, 𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐊𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐲’𝐬 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 – Claimed “provocation” over The Sash being played outside on the 12th – Yet the office was EMPTY and this was the main parade route.

📍 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐍𝐈 – Won’t promote the 12th, but promotes and funds Pride & Feile an Phobail.

📍 𝐆𝐀𝐀 𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐬 – Unionist Concerns of the GAA's promotion of terrorism labelled in the media as the “last kicks of a dying horse.”

However lets look at the real facts.

✅ Every July, Unionist communities build around 300 bonfires.

✅ 297+ were safe, successful, family-friendly events. Only 2-3 had any issues.

✅ The 11th & 12th of July see hundreds of thousands lining the streets.

✅ Scarva pulls tens of thousands more.

✅ Tourists flock here from Scotland, England & far beyond just to experience it.

✅ This is one of the biggest cultural celebrations in the UK.

Yet if you believed the media, you’d think the whole month was chaos... as the media digs out isolated incidents and blows them up to smear an entire community.

𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐞𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 … 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐬.

𝑭𝒆𝒊𝒍𝒆 𝒂𝒏 𝑷𝒉𝒐𝒃𝒂𝒊𝒍 is sold as an "Arts and culture festival" That everyone can enjoy.

In reality, it’s a festival saturated with terrorist glorification.

🔴 Patrick Magee (PIRA) – Brighton bomber, who murdered 5 people– given a platform for his own event .

🔴 A Dedicated "Prisoners Day" – Celebrating convicted terrorists.

🔴 Jim ‘Flash’ McVeigh (PIRA) – Events led by this Twice-convicted bomber.

🔴 Plays & talks romanticising Martin McGuinness’s IRA career.

🔴 GAA “Mothers” tournament named after bomb-maker Siobhán O’Hanlon.

🔴 Under-12.5s GAA cup named after Joe Cahill, mastermind of Bloody Friday (9 dead).

🔴 Image of Brendan ‘Bik’ McFarlane – killer of 5 Protestants in the Bayardo Bar attack – Screened to 12,000 young people.

Imagine if Unionists hosted an Under-12s or a "Fathers & Son"s football or rugby Tournament named after a Loyalist mass murderers. We don't need to imagine as we know there’d be arrests, funding withdrawn and condemnation from all Political Parties and rightly so.

Where’s the media now?
❌ Not doorstepping Feile organisers.
❌ Not grilling Sinn Féin on a "lack of leadership.”
❌ Not running weeks long panels demanding answers.

Because here’s the truth, In July, Unionists are put on trial in the Media. In August, terrorists are put on stage. 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐢𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝, 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝. And the double standard couldn’t be clearer".
