I'm the least qualified person on the internet.
Used to be MSNBC-addicted Leftist. Now, I'm not. Old tweets are indicative of past paradigm. Too lazy to delete
@IamSean90 I am literally the same age as Ana and went to both public & private schools there. We never once got to the Cold War in our history classes, and only learned about the Holocaust in the classes that studied WWII. Hyperbolic fantasy world.
@Dialoguealways@IamSean90 Yes, it's almost like Democrats knew it was an unpopular issue, even though they believed in it enough to spend social & political capital on it, and hoped to implement policies without running it by the electorate. Republicans overhyped it because Democrats tried to underhype it
Most ideologies that gain popularity treat social capital like the average mega-lottery winner: spending it frivolously under the delusion that it will never run out. But it always does, unless you invest it wisely.
@Friended4Ever@westonbeats At some point for some people, a constant negative stereotype ceases to be something to fight against and instead becomes something you can no longer lose any extra social standing for participating in. It'd be ideal to avoid getting to that point for any group.
@Friended4Ever I'm a pretty darn mild, reasonable, moderate guy, but this shit is threatening to radicalize me. The Hotep Jesus/Viva Frei talk I found especially blackpilling. I know enough cool black people in my life that it keeps me grounded, but damn. Hope you're talking about it on Sunday.
What this Karmelo Anthony reaction has shown is that a large portion of the American black community disdains you white progressives who have spent decades bending over backward to excuse their worst impulses. Let that be a lesson to you...that you will not learn.
I work with so many cool, smart black people on a daily basis, and have met many others in my life, so I would never make a blanket statement about "all" black people.
...but damn, why do so many in the black community have to choose the worst people to make a cause out of.
It's almost astonishing how privileged Americans on the Left are. To flaunt their nearly-infinite freedom to protest, mock, and criticize the government as they're actively complaining that they should have even more "freedom" or else it's fascism. Have a little perspective.
