Designed to deliver 190,000 barrels of oil per day, the #TilengaProject is Uganda’s flagship oil & gas development, operated by @TotalEnergiesUG, in partnership with @UNOC_UG and CNOOC Uganda Limited.
At its heart is one of East Africa’s largest & most complex industrial projects, the Central Processing Facility (CPF). Located within an Industrial Area spanning ≈700+ Acres, about 80–85 football pitches, the CPF itself covers approximately 163 Acres and is located in Kasenyi village, Buliisa District.
Here, crude oil from +420 wells will be processed and prepared for export. +8000 are involved in delivering the project, 80% of these are Ugandan!

Team Europe 🇪🇺 Ambassadors visiting 🇺🇬 Albertine region followed Uganda’s ongoing oil & gas operations & the transformative infrastructure investments shaping the sector.
Guided by @TotalEnergiesUG Country Head @PhilippeGroueix, the delegation toured key project sites.
The final day of the joint field visit by the Boards of @EwuraTanzania and @PAU_Uganda was successfully concluded with a visit to the Tilenga Project in Buliisa District.
Following a morning debrief, the delegation proceeded to the Tilenga Industrial Area, where they were received by the @TotalEnergiesUG team led by Business Development Manager, Patrick Oghittu. During the visit, the delegation toured key facilities including the Central Processing Facility (CPF), Operations Camp, Operations Support Base, and the Solar PV Plant, among others.
The team was updated on the progress of the Tilenga Project, which currently stands at 70% overall completion, while construction works within the Industrial Area are on schedule as planned.
The visit also included a stop at the GNA-03 well pad, where the delegation engaged on the progress of drilling and completion activities. The TEPU team indicated that 218 wells had so far been drilled with only 190 needed for First Oil out of the 420 that will be drilled for the entire project life span.
Following the Tilenga visit, the delegation proceeded to Hoima City Stadium, where they appreciated the completed infrastructure whose construction was supported through resources from the Petroleum Fund. The visit highlighted the wider socio-economic impact of petroleum revenues and their contribution to strategic national infrastructure development even before First Oil.
In their closing remarks, the @EwuraTanzania Board expressed appreciation to all teams that supported the visit and commended the collective efforts by stakeholders in advancing project implementation and ensuring readiness for first oil.
The delegation also recognised the role played by @PAU_Uganda across the operational sites visited under the @EACOP_ , @TotalEnergiesUG Tilenga, and @CNOOCUgandaLtd Kingfisher projects during the joint engagement.
