@sander9784 No, but its not a secret that he's gone back and censored his own works. GITS 2.0 Man-Machine Interface had scenes removed for being "unnecessary" to the plot before the manga was released state-side. Toning down the orgy scene is not out of character for him.

@sander9784 It's no secret that Shirow went back and censored his own works. My own 2003 2nd Edition Dark Horse version of GITS had the orgy uncensored, but GITS 2.0 was already censored before it saw a U.S. release. The anime respected his wishes.

It's not the same experience as Mira's hand-created world though.

@Mr_J_1991 @VenandrVT There really arn't any more sex scenes that happen in the rest of the series. When the anime gets to GITS 2.0 story, the naked ladies were all changed to swimsuits by Shirow himself when Darkhorse Comics released their edition in 2003. Now the rest of the anime can happen.
