Clink, clink, clinkโฆ
The familiar sound of metallic footsteps came ever closer to Cordelia. Was it a challenger? Perhaps a skilled knight?
โฆ no, it was her dear daughter Severa. Her arms were outstretched to each side as if to avoid making contact with her own body-
Years youngerโฆโ
Cordelia chuckled a bit bitterly but also smiled. It was ten years she wouldnโt want back even if it was offered. After all, sheโd gotten to watch her little girl grow up. That alone was worth any and all the trials and tribulations sheโd facedโฆ
-And the tears in her eyes all added up to paint the perfect picture of someone in a very pathetic state.
Not to mention the smellโฆ
โM-Mommyโฆ T-Theyโฆ THEY MADE ME CLEAN THE LATRI-I-IIIINES! WAAAHH!โ and there was the full on wailing. Hands still refusing to come-
โโฆpeanut butter and strawberry jam, Angel? With the crust cut off?โ
Cordelia snickered softly as there were a number of years where if Severa received anything else for lunch but such a sandwich the NEIGHBORS, and they lived on a farm at the time, would hear her outrageโฆ
Cordelia did her best not to roll her own eyes as she smiled and gently played with Severaโs hairโฆ
โThen what would you like me to make for you, Angel?โ
โ I can, next time. Just for you, alright? โ
While the intent was to avoid being wasteful, it warms her heart to know her daughter seems to want to try her cooking.
โOh it most certainly is. I learned it from Tharja herself! She was rather insistent no one else would want to eat it, but you were quite fond from even the first time you tasted it. Soโฆeel stew then?โ
โOf course, Sweetheart. Though I thought youโd have turned on that dish by nowโฆโ
Cordelia started to prepare a few things, but slowlyโฆsince what she said next might turn thingsโฆ
โIt is a Plegian dish, after all.โ
โHmโฆ Can I have your eel stew? I love the way you cook that!โ
โฆ that was a Plegian dish. Famously Plegian.
Perhaps she was so ignorant she didnโt even realize that?
โI make several stews, Angel. Youโll have to be a biiiit more specific.โ
Cordelia had an ideaโฆbut still needed a bit more of a hint. Severa tended to enjoy her cooking, but there were some meals she came back for seconds and thirds ofโฆ
โWhat would you like to eat, Angel?โ
Cordelia smiled and placed her hands on her hips. NORMALLY, sheโd scold Severa over such behaviorโฆbut they hadnโt had a lot of time together lately. She could spoil her little girl a bitโฆ
โ Would you like some bread to go with it? โ
Seeing Severa lighten up, if even only a little bit, is enough to let Cordelia breathe a sigh of relief.
