#OTD in 1944, USS Mercury was attacked by a Japanese torpedo bomber that clipped the ship's cargo boom and cartwheeled into the sea. It was the first and only boom in the Navy to be credited with downing an enemy plane. A victory mark was painted on it by the ship's winchmen.

@uckema I have a friend who adopted a Beagle. Paid 650 for the adoption fee. Then a 100 dollar a year fee for the first five years. Required to buy 60 dollar a bag (small bag) dog food for the dog. Required to only take it to one vet. Harder to do than get a Security clearance for him.

@hotwheelsjack When I worked for the County years ago I got to drive around one of these from site to site. Handled like a boat but they were everywhere. Was always jealous of the wagon version. Now I haven't seen one in years.
