We’re all living through a crisis of agency, at least online. Bots, algorithms, clip armies, & the flood of AI stuff have scrambled notions of popularity, turned everything into a ‘psyop’. AI tools/ agents are reversing the fundamental human, collaborative promise of the internet
@kevinroose mostly just talking about my IRL experience. online, i mean you're gonna have some people dig in but idk i feel like the critical line is less 'spicy autocomplete' and more...i'm not sure the financials make any sense imo
this clip, man. it's the DOGE mentality...the dilettante with the absolute most surface-level understanding of something clearly knows more than a person with lived experience because they are 'cloistered' or 'part of the problem.' just such a dangerous mentality
The Economist: You have close to 250 million followers on X. You say things like "civil war in Britain is inevitable. Just a question of when"
Elon Musk: On the current trend, yes.
The Economist: When were you last in the UK?
Musk: A few years ago
The Economist: Exactly. I live there. That is nonsense. The numbers also disprove what you say. London is a much safer city than any city in the US. You have painted Europe and the UK as overrun with terrifying Muslim immigrants, there's rape on every corner, there's civilizational destruction.
Musk: I didn't say any of those things.
(also it’s excellent evidence that if your particular ideology becomes ascendant on this hell platform it basically destroys you by misshaping your perception of the world such that you lose touch with reality)
having now seen the odyssey, i think the only way to view the reactionary freak out over it is to see it a victory for normal ppl. if you’re so brain poisoned that you can’t enjoy that time at the movies then i think you’ve already lost whatever war you think you’re fighting
This week on Galaxy Brain, @cwarzel talks with the soccer podcaster Roger Bennett about what the World Cup has taught us about national pride, collective memory, and the internet in 2026: https://t.co/UyL5LarOjk
It has officially been a whole decade since Hillary Clinton launched “Pokemon Go to the Polls” into the zeitgeist in Annandale, VA on July 14, 2016.
Sit with that for a minute.
