@KeithUrban Idk, but it’s sunny in Oregon today and this song is addicting! Imagine the number of streams if it really was a never-ending Groundhog Day 😀 Well played!
01. STRAIGHT LINE
This is the song that kicks off an album I'm jonesing to share with you all. I chose it first for a lot of reasons, but particularly because I think it represents an energy and spirit that became a through line of the whole record. I'm gonna cover a lot of themes, emotions and vibes on this album but a very human spirit runs through them all. "Straight Line" is wanting to break out of a soul-sucking routine that you might be stuck in: maybe in a relationship, a job, with creativity, with yourself...whatever it is !! It’s a message of feeling alive again and getting out from under that dark cloud. If you’ve seen us in concert, I hope it gives you that same feeling. “Straight Line” is out now !

It's a massive honor to be inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame next week and I wanted to shine a light on a collection of songs that I've written.
Shine
Coming Home
I Told You So
Somebody Like You
Days Go By
Gone Tomorrow (Here Today)
I chose SHINE as the first track and for the title of this collection of songs because I think it's what we were all born to do. The song itself is about hope, which has often been a theme I've gravitated towards. It's about trying to help someone else see the best in themselves. I probably write these kinds of songs because not only do I need to hear them, but I need these kinds of people in my own life too. Side note: I write on a lot of different instruments. This one found me on piano and it's me playing on the master !
"Coming Home" follows that theme where 'home' (wherever and whatever that is for each of us) is the place where people really care about you and love you for who you are. It's easy to get lost in the world sometimes, and I think we need some kind of 'center' to keep us balanced. It also samples 'Mama Tried' by Merle Haggard, which will always be badass !!
A recurring theme I write about often is being present and in the moment. For whatever reason, I've usually found uptempo music brings this out in me the most. Songs like "Days Go By" and "Gone Tomorrow (Here Today)" started with the music first, and for me, the music was already telling the story. Seize the day and LIVE !!!!

@KeithUrban@trishayearwood@countrymusichof "The Rose" reminds me of my mom ♥️ she passed away 23 years ago. Dad was in a barbershop (yes, that's right) chorus when bro and I were young. Heard that song rehearsed/performed SO many times by them, and it was her favorite. A simpler, long-ago time. #CascadeChorus#spebsqsa
Our theme for this year’s All For The Hall is “The Song Remembers When” - a song written by Hugh Prestwood and recorded by the incomparable @trishayearwood. Songs bring back so many memories for all of us, fans and artists alike, so I thought it would be great to hear what our special guests choose and for them to share inside stories we’ve never heard before on December 5th at Bridgestone. Let me know one of yours ! Tickets go on sale Friday, September 15th @ 10am CT on @LiveNation.
@cmafoundation@KeithUrban I’m the same way. I never learned to read music well enough to play what I was reading, but I could internalize what I was HEARING and I have a good appreciation of rhythm and music connection. I quit band after 10th grade.
