Your brain deletes most of your ordinary days. It keeps almost every minute of a night alone in a foreign city. What's happening there is actually one of the more beautiful things about how your nervous system works.

Your brain is a prediction machine. When it can predict everything, like your commute, your kitchen, your same six streets, it stops recording. That's why whole months at home just vanish. But put yourself somewhere it can't predict anything and the system flips. Every sign, every smell, every crosswalk registers as new information. Dopamine tags all of it as worth keeping. This is why one week abroad feels longer in memory than a month at home. Your brain literally kept more of it.

The second thing happening is quieter. At home, some part of you is always tracking how you're being perceived. Your boss, your friends, the people who knew you at 22. In a city where nobody knows your name, that entire system goes offline.

And when it goes offline, the bandwidth doesn't disappear. It gets redirected inward.

That's the "realizing how far you've come" part. Your brain is finally recording again, the self-monitoring is off, and you're far enough away from your life to see the whole shape of it at once.

You spend years too close to your own life to see it. Then one night you're crossing a street on the other side of the world, and you finally have enough distance to look.

This investigation into LG TVs spying on you, your family, and your network is absolutely insane.

It has made me irrationally angry that even in this 2 hour video there isn't a whole lot of "what you should do about it" - because there isn't much you can do.

They suggest disconnecting all smart TVs from your network, but also demonstrate that offline TVs still record audio and can try to connect to neighbors open ISP provided WiFi (Xfinity and AT&T default routers) and exfil that anyway.

The lack of control we have over our own electronics is insane, we need massive comprehensive consumer privacy legal reform.

GrapheneOS is partnered with Motorola Mobility which is Lenovo's mobile division.

In 2011, Motorola was split into Motorola Mobility and Motorola Solutions. Google acquired Motorola Mobility in 2012 and sold it to Lenovo in 2014. Motorola Mobility is the company selling smartphones and tablets.

Motorola Solutions is a separate company. It's the continuation of the government contract side of Motorola selling radios, cameras and now drones. Both share the same brand for historical reasons but are entirely different things. We're working with the smartphone company, not the radio/camera one.

People regularly get the companies mixed up due to both using the Motorola brand. We're clarifying this since people keep asking if GrapheneOS is going to run on Motorola Solutions radios or about their government contracts. That's a different company from the Motorola selling smartphones/tablets.

I really recommending reading this.

In summary, a company which does ID verification for in-person interactions (hotels, car rentals, ID verification for alcohol or marijuana, etc) has some how exposed over 153,000,000 drivers licenses for people in the United States and Canada.

It is a catastrophic data breach, probably one of the worse I've ever seen. If you're in the United States and have traveled, gotten a hotel, purchased marijuana or alcohol, there is a high probability you're in this.

Unlike other breaches, this includes a photo of the person (from the license), making verification you've identified the person significantly easier.

This poses a significant threat to celebrities (musicians, YouTubers, streamers, adult entertainers, actors, etc), politicians, lawyers, wealthy people (CEOs, investors, people of public interest), Law Enforcement Officers, etc

Krebs himself, and several other security researchers, have already confirmed they're in the data leak.

Tupac's murder went unsolved for 27 years. Then the man in the front passenger seat published a memoir about that night, and a Las Vegas jury just needed 3 hours to convict him.

Here's the wild part. Duane "Keffe D" Davis had already confessed to police back in 2008, and it was legally useless. He talked under a proffer deal, the "queen for a day" arrangement where investigators promise nothing from the session gets used against you. Detectives heard the full story of September 7, 1996 and couldn't touch him.

So Davis walked. For over a decade, the only living person from that Cadillac was free, protected by his own confession.

Then he started selling the story. TV interviews. YouTube sit-downs in 2017. And in 2019, a memoir called Compton Street Legend, where he put himself in the car and named his own nephew as the shooter.

The proffer only protected what he said inside that interview room. A book published for profit has no Fifth Amendment protection. The judge ruled the memoir independent evidence, the case got reopened, and in 2023 Davis became the only person ever charged in the most famous cold case in music history.

There was no weapon, no DNA, no other living eyewitness. The prosecution's case was two dozen witnesses plus hours of Davis narrating his own crime. His defense was that he invented all of it for money.

The jury took under 3 hours. He faces life, sentencing October 13.

Police couldn't close the case with 27 years of investigation. His book royalties closed it in one memoir.
