A significant milestone for the Andaman & Nicobar Police with the introduction of Special Grade designations, honouring long years of selfless service by Constables and Head Constables.
On 29th January 2026, a Pipping Ceremony was held at the Police Headquarters, presided over by Shri Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal, IPS, @DGPANIslands. On this occasion, five police personnel were conferred Special Grade ranks-two Head Constables were upgraded to Assistant Sub-Inspector (Special Grade), and three Constables, including two Lady Constables, were upgraded to Head Constable (Special Grade).
Key Highlights:
🔹 HC (Special Grade): Granted to Constables completing 15 years of service.
🔹 ASI (Special Grade): Granted to Head Constables completing 25 years of service.
🔹 This welfare measure boosts morale and recognises professional experience.

Today, Hon’ble Lt. Governor @Admiral_DKJoshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.) & Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency, flagged off 36 newly inducted mopeds for Lady Police Personnel at Lok Niwas—an important initiative to further strengthen women’s safety, crime prevention, and community outreach across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
The programme was held in the presence of Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, Chief Secretary @Andaman_Admin and Sh. Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal, IPS, @DGPANIslands, along with other senior officers of #AndamanNicobarPolice. The introduction of beat patrolling by female personnel at all Police Stations marks a major step towards women empowerment and safer neighbourhoods.

Police Raising Week Marked with Successful Conclusion of SP Cup Cricket Tournament – Season II
The North & Middle Andaman District Police marked the 74th A&N Police Raising Day with the successful conduct of the SP Cup Wind Ball Cricket Tournament (Season–II) at Netaji Stadium, Mayabunder. Held from 10th to 16th January 2026, the tournament brought together nine spirited teams and was inaugurated by Smt. Shweta K. Sugathan, IPS, Superintendent of Police, N&MA District, along with prominant dignitaries.
Winners, runners-up, and outstanding performers were felicitated during the closing ceremony, celebrating sportsmanship, fitness, and strong police–community bonding.

Operation Coral Shield Concludes!
After intensive area domination for nearly a month and intensive round-the-clock surveillance, the last remaining poacher who had fled into the jungles surrendered at LOP Burmanallah on 24.12.2025 and was apprehended by the A&N Police with the help of villagers from Pan Nallah. This marked the successful culmination of “Operation Coral Shield,” the anti-poaching operation launched by the A&N Police along the western coast of North Andaman Islands.
The operation achieved 100% success, reflecting the exceptional courage, endurance, and professionalism of the Anti-Poaching Teams, and resulted in the apprehension of all 10 Myanmarese poachers who had intruded into the islands, seizure of one engine-fitted dinghy, and recovery of approximately 800 kg of sea cucumber.
The Andaman & Nicobar Police reaffirm their unwavering commitment to safeguarding fragile forest and marine ecosystems and to preventing illegal intrusion and poaching activities in the island territories.
