Mostly right. There are some other elements, including indictments (note the increase in FBI activity) and some use of other IW methods. But they are mostly constrained to cyber "gray area" actions "e.g. doxing) under an EO. My kinetic side would prefer a more complete approach.

What we CAN do and what we MAY do is certainly constrained by policy, which lags reality by quite a bit. I know we CAN, the question is when we SHOULD. (we did invent and build the thing, after all)

As much as my younger Ranger Mule persona would love to see something tangible and kinetic, I think our awareness of the federal effort will be in what is missing from the adversary's toybox come 2020.

Not surprising, given their mastery of information operations, specifically use of polarization. This would serve their purpose of eroding trust in the process, regardless of outcome.

I was discussing this yesterday with two colleagues, one in uniform, one in academia who will facilitate a discussion between Sr US and Russian officers. We've done this before with this and other domains. It is good to normalize and reduce filters.
