Ranking the All-Time Iowa State Basketball A-Z teams, from 1-26. I'll be picking the best 5-man lineup for every letter via a players first name (for instance, a guy like Jamarion Batemon would play for J team, not B team). I'll release the ranking in tiers over the next few days
As a whole, this team is really good. Stinson and Jones would be a killer backcourt, and having Harris and Brackins at the forwards would be lethal. Chuck Duncan is the weak spot for this team, but make no mistake: Team C is an absolute menace
Chuck Duncan
Duncan was one of the best Iowa State players from the 50s, averaging near 22 points and 12 rebounds a game in his final year. Averaged 14 points and 9.6 rebounds over his 4-year career, and was Iowa State's all-time leading scorer when he left college in 1955
Overall, this is an incredibly talented team that can shoot, score, and defend at a pretty high level. There may be a lack of size (save for Uthoff), but this is a really good team
Dean Uthoff
Uthoff is Iowa State's all-time leading rebounder, averaging 11.4 RPG over his 4-year career. He led the conference in rebounding every year of his career. He was also a decent scorer, averaging 11.5 a game. One of the true OG legends for Iowa State.
@CyclonePower40 If you would take Moore over Toure, then you do you. But considering they had similar scoring outputs, I’m taking the athleticism and defense of Toure over 5’10 Moore
Overall, Team K is probably the best defensive team on this entire list. With Keshon and Killyan around the perimeter, and Cato in the post, no one is scoring against this team. However, a lack of true shooting ability and poor efficiency limits this team to #5.
Kelvin Cato
Cato might be the best center in ISU history. His offensive game was ok, averaging around 10.5 points a game over his 2 years as a Cyclone. But defensively, Cato shined. He averaged a mind-boggling 3.4 blocks per game at Iowa State, including 4.2 his senior season
