The murder of Hon. Igbu Job Terhemen, NDC Chairman of Fiidi Council Ward in Makurdi, is not just another sad headline. It is an attack on grassroots politics against the NDC and Benue State.

A ward chairman is the first line of party organisation. When such a person is killed, the message is clear: those building from the ground up are not safe.

NDC Benue has condemned it. That is necessary. But condemnation without justice is noise. The police must name suspects, investigate fully, and prosecute. Anything less tells every other ward official that their life is cheap.

Benue cannot keep burying organisers while elections draw closer. Protect the living. Deliver justice for the dead.

We call on the security forces to swiftly apprehend those responsible and ensure that they face the full consequences of the law. No one should be above the law.
