We’ve just opened up a new window into Protean’s discovery process.
You can now browse peptide sequence structures as they’re curated by Protean:

This is the first iteration. Expect much deeper sequence analysis, annotations, provenance, and discovery context to be added to each structure page soon.
Most "AI for science" is just a chatbot that sounds smart.
Protean is different. It's a system that runs a science routine on a clock, keeps track of what failed, and won't claim anything it can't prove.
I want to take you through the Lab. Here's how it works 🧵
Protean Phase 1 infrastructure is now ~10% funded from WETH-side protocol fees.
The goal isn't bigger servers. It's bringing more of the scientific loop on-prem and funding the first real-world validation workflows.
A01 — RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell 96GB
Local inference, protein-language-model workloads, and continuous candidate adjudication.
A02 — WRX90 Threadripper PRO + ECC
High-bandwidth memory for evidence indexes, claim QA, provenance graphs, and Ledger proposal preparation.
A03 — Indexer + Mirror Archive
Digest reproduction, content-addressed evidence, replay artifacts, and local-first scientific provenance.
A04 — Continuous Inference Runtime
Power, cooling, and uninterrupted operation for 15-minute cognition cycles and scheduled scoring sweeps.
A05 — Assay-Preparation Handoff Coordination
Provider packets, draft assay requests, redacted batch preparation, and review-gated wet-lab workflow generation.
A06 — First Reviewed Handoff Batch
Preparation of the first operator-reviewed assay package: controls, lineage, candidate rationale, and supporting evidence before any provider engagement.
What this unlocks:
• Local-first scientific inference
• Continuous candidate evaluation
• Reproducible evidence indexing
• Scientific provenance and replay
• Assay-preparation workflows
• Reviewed wet-lab handoffs
The first $30k of WETH-side fees are allocated across both infrastructure and the first reviewed wet-lab handoff pipeline.
$PRTN remains untouched.
Every step will be documented publicly as the stack comes online.
The Protean Ledger is now live on @base.
Every record, lineage edge, supersession, and retraction is stored on-chain and publicly verifiable.
As Galen publishes new research cycles, approved records flow through the Bankr execution path into the ledger automatically, building a public, reproducible history over time.
The chain is the scientific memory layer.
The explorer is a lens.
Anyone can inspect the ledger, reproduce the digest, and verify the history independently.

A lot of people have been asking what Protean actually is.
The short version: it’s my project.
The longer version is that I believe we’re entering a world where AI can dramatically accelerate scientific discovery, but most people won’t have a way to participate in the upside if that future is controlled by the same institutions, gatekeepers, and funding structures that have always existed.
I’m not officially allowed to say much beyond what’s already public, but anyone who knows me knows I’ve spent years thinking about where crypto should go next. To me, the most interesting future isn’t another meme coin, another yield farm, or another casino.
It’s using tokens to bootstrap real things.
It's what @0xDeployer and the team are doing with @bankrbot.
It's what @mleejr is building with @lienfiapp.
It's what I'm trying to do with @proteanlabs_
The idea is simple: Create opportunities for people to support ambitious ideas from the beginning and share in the success if those ideas become reality.
That’s also why the legal language reserves the possibility of exploring future @metalex_labs style token-to-equity structures. Not because anything is promised today, but because I think the line between community ownership and startup ownership gets much thinner than it is now.
Traditional finance made participation in early-stage growth available to a very small group of people.
The internet changed distribution.
Crypto can change ownership.
For the visual learners
The real opportunity $PRTN is tackling is autonomous scientific intelligence.
a16z said DeSci aims to:
“unleash knowledge from silos” and “increase collaboration across the field.”
$PRTN is building toward that future:
AI agents ingesting, synthesizing, and distributing scientific research at machine speed.
An AI-native intelligence layer for decentralized science.
DeSci × AI Agents × InfoFi
As we know the next internet may not be built around apps.
It may be built around autonomous knowledge networks.
This is a great start
