Thank you to so many people who made this happen. Great to hear from people coming forward to have their thoughts, desires, ideas, solutions and voices heard today.
"It's tourism, it's health, it's transport independence."
@Chris_Boardman joined @simonlightwood and @KiMcGuinness in Tynemouth this week to see the wide range of benefits the new £11m Seafront Sustainable Route is already bringing to the area 👩🦽🚶♂️🌅🚲🛴

It might be nearly 10 years (maybe more!) In the making, but that 10 yards of tarmac made my heart skip a beat this morning, before becoming a little bit still.
If you know where it is, you know.
Dutch authorities now recommend a minimum cycle lane width of 230 cm (each direction) to allow for side-by-side riding and comfortable passing.
Studies have shown the wider the lane, the lower the safety risk: each 10% increase reduces collisions by 13%.

And finally @KnowsleyCouncil and @WirralCouncil is a no from them for #CycleToWorkDay £70 million spent somewhere and not 1 of our regions councils has promoted it! Speaks volumes!
Has anyone spotted any of our local councillors out and about or promoting #CycleToWorkDay today? We've got all this best-in-class infrastructure & just launched LCWIP, so there must have been some promotion or some events for today. @harrydoyle96@liamrobinson24@LCRMayor
"Cyclists don't use cycle tracks?"
Er, here's me on the new cycle track adjacent to the A27 near Eastbourne today and no motorists on the road! https://t.co/AABFE3jSob (Well, couple in the distance, and more soon arrived! But, still ...)
1/ Corruption and cover up in L8?? Update!!
Hatherley Street and Ducie Street
July 2019 was when I first heard the name West Tree Estates (WTE). Many in the local community were horrified at their planning application for Ducie Street and campaigned against it.
Compared to the plans @WestYorkshireCA and @greatermcr have now published for expanding public transport provision the @LpoolCityRegion plans for a glorified bendy bus looks even more pathetic!
It's not too late to sign our open letter to the incoming government calling for #GraduatedDrivingLicensing to be introduced within the first 100 days of the next Parliament: https://t.co/S4ceW4g83u
It's been nearly 2 years since @harrydoyle96 and councillor Barrington went to check out Walthamstow. In that time @lpoolcouncil has completed less than 1 mile of bike lanes, not brought in parking restrictions in city centre! @CarlCashman should have a field day!
I don’t normally get involved in calling out headlines but it’s just getting bonkers.
If this was directed at a gender, race or religion it would be rightly called out as the hate speech it is. Mums, dads, sons and daughters being labelled as killers. It’s just got to stop.
@AlanMyles8 We have seen so many police forces use this guide badly. They clearly don’t understand Primary and secondary position and have no understanding of National standards for cycling. @Chris_Boardman@activetraveleng police force staff been education.
The next three reports are all transport related.
The first is all about improving cycle access in and around Upper Parliament St, Catherine St & Princes Rd – improving traffic flow and having a positive impact on all road users.
