@jerseyjournal@JerseyCity@ooneepod This is very exciting! Knowing my bike will be safe when I leave it out in the city plays a big part in how often I choose to use my two wheels. Happy to see Jersey City at the forefront of expanding secure bike parking options that will encourage more people to get on bikes!

@bikeloveny @BarmanNYC Also even changing the color of the asphalt at the intersection or having a street mural might be a solution. Anything to communicate to the driver that something is different here and you should pay attention.
@BarmanNYC @bikeloveny In Amsterdam it works because of a combination of design, speeds lower on average over the entire network, and drivers are use to being more cautious because of high cyclists volumes. We have a ways to go before we get there.
@bikeloveny @BarmanNYC I’m a fan of the 2-way intersection designs of Barcelona’s Eixample neighborhood. Angled corners open up the intersection and increase visibility. Pedestrians are set back safely from traffic. Could work in this area of BK (also with superblocks?), but requires more intervention.
@bikeloveny @BarmanNYC Speed table or raised intersection, perhaps. Curb extension at crosswalks that narrow or "neckdown" the street width. Non-signaled intersections do require more alertness, but should consider 14th street's role in the whole network before removing.
