Even with #aidslifecycle cancelled this year, still training. Before #COVID2019, I wasn’t a fan of bandannas, so I kept the ones I acquired as souvenirs. I pulled this one out of the closet for my short ride today before it rains —from California AIDS Ride 7 (that’s 20 years ago)
the first student in 🚲 class tonight was a newbie and French, so I put on my Bastille Day playlist early and taught in both English and French—no excuse for her to not follow along 😉
Finished Day 7 of #AidsLifeCycle — without a single flat tire or other mechanical problem all week — I only mention it because I didn’t leave as early this morning, so I saw more riders on the course than usual, and saw dozens on the side of the road with flats or other repairs
Finished Day 6 of #AidsLifeCycle another 88 miles. It goes by so quickly—tomorrow is the last day. The weather has been incredible, temps never getting too warm (less photogenic, but more comfortable) and winds usually manageable
Finished Day 5 of #AidsLifeCycle dressed in red, like everyone else—handmaids, lumberjacks, Wonder Women, a school of fish, and more. 40 miles with some hills and wind to add some challenge to an otherwise short ride (the shortest all week)
Finished Day 4 of #AidsLifeCycle 88 miles and 3,800’ climbing including the so-called Evil Twins. Too foggy to bother taking 1/2-way to LA point with Morro Bay and Morro Rock in the background as gray as my shorts & arm- leg-warmers
finished Day 3 of #AidsLifeCycle. Only 66 miles with about 2,400’ of climbing, including a hill dubbed “Quadbuster.” Thanks to one rider who’s an office in the National Guard, the ride received permission to ride through Camp Roberts, instead of on the freeway shoulder.
Day 2 #AidsLifeCycle is the longest day at nearly 110 miles (& about 3,000’ of climbing), so there’s an extra stop, located at Mission Soledad. No solitude there today with the Cookie Lady and the dancing bears dispensing treats (homemade cookies & Otter Pops, respectively)
My 22nd year riding my bike from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Rest Stop 4 often has the best themes, and today on the first day of #aidslifecycle most of the stops were not very fabulous, but lived up to its reputation. 82 miles completed in great weather
#aidslifecycle begins in minutes more than $16.6 million raised—a record, thanks to all of you. To make it bigger, go to this link: https://t.co/N68866sqZI
