@salltweets Gender is like belief in a soul. Fine for those with faith. But utterly irrelevant to everyone else and absolutely not the basis on which society or its laws should be organised.
I am not gender critical. I am a gender atheist.
@LoinDuTribu No - changing the Equality Act in the way that these campaigners seem to want will do precisely that. Anyway no point debating with someone who has no understanding of the law.
@LoinDuTribu@Mike1750830 They can use the men's or gender neutral spaces - ordinary public facilities which do not require any sort of community inspection. By trying to enter into women only spaces they are removing the rights women have to such spaces free of men. So, yes, theft is the right word.
@BettsCaro@ForWomenScot I don't think they'll ever realise how well educated GC people are on the topic. There's not a twitter terf who couldn't argue any one of these MPs into a cocked hat. They perpetually underestimate GCs by assuming their own standards are universal.
@akuareindorf@suzanne_moore@BettsCaro@ForWomenScot Well they've stopped saying that there is no clash between women's right and trans rights. Now they say there is a clash and trans people should win and women lose their rights.
So there is that.
FWIW
@GeneNLeslie1@EllieChowns Could it be that this is about access to women? Or about denying women something of their own? Or sexual gratification?
Because were it about safety and having somewhere to pee a cubicle in the men's or a gender neutral space would answer all a TW's needs.
@stuartf100@stellacreasy And if you do how do you define a man who thinks he is a woman as opposed to, say, a man pretending to pretend to be a woman? And how will this be enforced? Or are you really saying that there should be no women only spaces at all?
@stellacreasy You made silly ignorant points and now claim that you can't debate when people with expertise pointed this out. Nor can you answer questions based on what you said because you did no thinking about the issue beforehand. Try understanding the law first next time. It'll help.
@AudreySuffolk@Slipstream60 Let's be accurate. They've embraced male feelz and male demands.
Women's feelz and demands are to be ignored. As per bloody usual. 🤬
@unisonldnlgbt A union agitating to allow male predators into women only spaces.
No decent man, whether trans or not, goes into a women only space. Any man seeking to do so is a predator with no respect for women's boundaries.
And you are supporting such men.
For shame, Unison. For shame.
@sleeepysandy When Henry should have been starting his 3rd year at university. It makes one want to weep. Every date in future, every family event will be one with his family thinking "Henry would have been ....".
It is so so sad. Prayers for them: they face the worst life sentence of all.
@sleeepysandy The IOPC was bloody useless in Operation Midland. Even after a judge ruled the police had behaved in breach of the law, the IOPC found nothing wrong and did not even interview the officers concerned. Has it improved? See https://t.co/NCJm7JVFOY
@sleeepysandy Yes - all of those. That is why the IOPC really needs to look carefully at the training and decision making. Not just make scapegoats of these 2 officers.
@notyourtilth@MrTCHarris If a woman cannot say no to a man providing her with intimate care against her consent, why should she be able to say no to a man demanding sex with her. Why is one ok and the other not?
Look at the "male lesbians" trying to bully lesbians into sex.
@notyourtilth@MrTCHarris That's why we have to make it clear that this is not just about loos. But the whole anti-sex discrimination legislation since the 1970's. It's fundamentally about men wanting to undermine women's right to have any boundaries at all, to be able to say No and have that respected.
@sleeepysandy I have sympathy for police officers having to make split second decisions. But what concerns me here is a failure to do what ought to be basic stuff learnt in training on the basis of what they could see in front of them. So incompetence or the training was deficient. Or both.
