Anyone ever seen interstate-induced clouds before? Low level CU developed perfectly along major interstates around Houston this morning. Kind of shocking to see such perfectly lined up clouds. #txwx
@abitofstrange@EddieSheerr Great pics of this rare event. I was looking for some photos showing how the foliage was already well-along . This ties with 1941 for latest accumulating snow in Sydney . There were 7 cm on May 29 1941.
A mixture of 'gravity waves' (cloud pattern) at various altitudes. These are akin to ripples in the sand at the beach. Different levels in the atmosphere where the temperature increases with height often give rise to these. #nswx#pewx

#MountStHelens May 18, 1980, 8:32 AM. A colossal landslide. Magma & hot fluids explode, surge outward like a hot hurricane. Column rises, ash falls for miles. Snowpack melts, mudflows converge, lahars move downvalley. A 9-hr eruption. Everything is changed.

Satellite animation of today's weather system departing the region followed by upper-level cloud associated with the jet stream accompanied by multiple interesting cloud bands likely producing turbulence for aircraft.
