Local libraries will look a lot different when they reopen
Libraries are shut down around the country, but many are offering online story times and other activities in place of face-to-face services.

A.4 #is516 I can ask the stakeholders to meet me at the table and everyone write down their list of demands. What do we want the students to learn by when. If we can find one thing we agree on that is the start. Everyone may not come to the table but it should always remain open.
A3: Create relationships with your S's! They are usually more than likely to share (way too much). Holding activities after school//breaks/etc. can help them see that you're there even when school isn't in session. Staying in contact with parents is also important. #is516
A.3 #is516 Having brochures and reading recommendations available to parents weekly is very important to bridging the gap between school and home. Parents are always trying to find way to manage time. They need resources #onhand that are easy to incorporate into regular routines.
A.2 Collegiality has been a huge part of my personal success. Creating a community of educators that works together, enhancing each others strengths and helping with weaknesses is imperative to student/teacher success.#is516
A.2 #is516#Collegiality is so important because it encourages educators and librarians to build relationships with each other that are imperative to creating strong lessons and programs that engage Ss. #teamworkmakesthedreamwork#wenotI
A.1 You can show commitment to continual professional growth by reading professionally, listening to professional podcasts and then sharing about what you learned during PD moments or through your practice. #is516#schoollibrarianleadership
A.1 #is516 I am committed to going to more conventions and networking events with #schoollibrarians. I would like to learn more about new library trends and ways to engage young readers through #makerspaces and #technology that teaches #digitalliteracy.
#is516 We should create small collections of famous librarians so stakeholders, T's and S's can see to what extent we are willing to go to in our practice. We need to show them what can happen if we are not limited! @iSchoolK12
A.3: #is516@ischoolk12 Embracing advocacy as a long-term activity means creating spaces and lessons that mimic the needs of school librarians. We can create display boards and provide readings thatโs support our causes and teach children what we do and why we do it.
@MFechik #is516 I agree! Conversations about what we want or need are very important. It helps stakeholders understand how we view our role and how we intend to benefit from being a part of a system even though we are not traditional teachers. We still need #aseatatthetable
A.2: #is516@ischoolk12 Making advocacy โan organic partโ of daily practice can mean including positive language and terms in our speech that reflect how librarians feel about their unique position in schools.
