@DiscussingFilm I hate how media is only bad now because it’s “woke” or “forcing diversity.” In the ‘90s, it was generally agreed this show was bad because it SUCKED. I wish we could get back to that.
@AustinGorton How weird would it have been if this look had stuck on a long-term basis (as I believe was Cockrum's intent)? Imagine having to explain it as, "Oh yeah, Wolverine fought this random alien in the '70s and liked the dude's fit, so he stole it."
One of the ways that Claremont defines Jean as a 2nd wave feminist superhero is through her simple, consistent reluctance to fall into a domestic relationship against her wishes and to assert, instead, her independence and superheroism. #xmen 1/13
@MarveIFacts Oh man, I’d forgotten how prevalent these stock“transformation” scenes were in ‘90s kid shows. A effective way to eat up that 22 minute runtime for low budget productions. Complete with shoddy 3D modeling that was meant to be cutting edge but looked like shit even back then.
Will this be our legacy? Cranking our hogs while the world burns down around us? Cranking our hogs until all is reduced to ash, including the very hogs we are cranking? Can we not aspire to greater than this, friends, to something greater than the cranking of our smoldering hogs?
@theoscarhoole Blade was the first, but it was a licensing deal no different from those others. All of which were critical in keeping Marvel on life support, but establishment of the MCU w/ Iron Man was the game changer.
@theoscarhoole Look, we all love Blade, but this thread is about MARVEL'S comeback as an entertainment company, not the history of superhero films as blockbuster hits. Blade no more "saved" Marvel than did Spider-Man, Daredevil, X-Men, FF, or any of the other pre-MCU films.
Apologies to anyone I spread false hope to. I never should have underestimated the racism, misogyny, and stupidity of this worthless shithole country. I hate this place with every fiber of my being and don’t give a goddamn fuck what happens here anymore.
This is 100% true in my experience dealing with some family members on this. The brainwashing is so pervasive that there’s nothing that can break through. Perfect comparison here.
@gphillips8652 Right there with you. It's genuinely to the point where he has to be looked at as one of the most powerful and effective cult leaders of our time. Infuriating that the only way to beat it is to hope there's just enough people across like 5 states still outside his fart cloud.
