If anyone wonders why you or I are liberal Democrats show them this post.
Women: "Can I have birth control?"
Republican Controlled Congress: "No."
Women: "I couldn't get birth control so I got pregnant.
Can I have an abortion?"

Women: "You prevented me from having an abortion so I'm carrying the fetus, but my employer won't provide reasonable accommodations and is threatening to fire me.
Would you please pass the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act?"
Republican Controlled Congress: "No"
Women: "I had the baby, but I'm out of work.
Can I have WIC and food stamps until I get back on my feet?"
Republican Controlled Congress: "No."

Women: "My kid got sick and I got fired because I missed time caring for him/her.
Can I get unemployment?"
Republican Controlled Congress: "No."

But what's the matter with you and your family, that working two jobs can't lift you out of poverty?
And what kind of a mother are you, letting someone else watch your child while you work?
If your child doesn't do well in school or gets in trouble, it's entirely your fault.
You shouldn't have had a child if you weren't prepared to take care of him/her."

“Protect your daughters.”
NO.
Raise sons who intervene.
Raise sons who understand consent.
Raise sons who DO NOT protect their friends when their friends harm women.
"Our old gelding went blind in March and the goose has walked him to water every day since. She gets her body against his shoulder and steers him with it. When there's something in the way she stops and plants herself and he stops too. Then she taps the side of the tank so he knows where it is. Nobody taught her any of that.
Your grandparents planned road trips like military operations. Ask them. For thirty years, Black families could not drive across America without a guidebook telling them which towns would kill them.
A postal worker in Harlem wrote it. The Negro Motorist Green Book.
Victor Hugo Green started it in 1936 as a list of places in New York that would serve Black customers. Within a few years it covered the country, then Bermuda, Mexico and Canada.
What it actually was, beneath the cheerful cover: a survival manual. Which garages would sell you petrol. Which hotels would give you a room.
Which restaurants had a back window. Which towns you had to be out of before the sun went down.
He built it from letters sent in by Black postal workers across the country — a network of people who knew every route in America and had all driven them.
At its height it was used by around two million people a year.
Families packed food for the whole journey because they could not rely on being served. Children were told to use the bathroom before leaving because there might not be another chance for three hundred miles.
Green wrote in an early edition that there would come a day when the guide would no longer be needed, and that this was the day he was working toward.
The last edition came out in 1967, three years after the Civil Rights Act. He did not live to see it. He died in 1960.
I see Madonna is pissing everybody off again.
Good.
Gen X checking in:
Were some of y’all born yesterday?
You’re clutching your pearls because Madonna is 68, wearing lingerie, fishnets and thigh-high boots like she suddenly lost her mind at bingo.
THIS IS MADONNA.
She rolled around on the VMA stage in a wedding dress in 1984.
She gave us Like a Prayer.
Vogue.
Erotica.
Truth or Dare.
Justify My Love.
Ray of Light.
Confessions.
She made Evita, Who’s That Girl, A League of Their Own and Desperately Seeking Susan.
She reinvented herself so many damn times that entire generations of pop stars are still borrowing from the blueprint.
And now the woman who spent 40+ years telling society to go fuck itself is supposed to hit 68 and start dressing like somebody’s meemaw because you got uncomfortable with her aging?
Fuck that.
Prince never needed permission to be Prince.
Bowie never needed permission to be Bowie.
Madonna doesn’t need permission to be Madonna.
And bookmark this post:
The day Madonna dies, half the people dragging her today will suddenly post “We lost an icon 💔” and spend a week explaining how she changed music, fashion, sexuality and pop culture.
I’m not waiting for her obituary to give her her flowers.
Wear the corset.
Wear the fishnets.
Piss people off.
You’re fucking Madonna.

Sean Bell didn't make it to the altar. George and Eric couldn't breathe. Rekia didn't pose a threat. Laquan was walking away. Kendrick did not roll himself up. Mike Brown was only jaywalking. Sandra Bland did not commit suicide. Botham Jean couldnt enjoy his ice cream. Tamir Rice didn't have a gun.
