@LibertarioMexa Oh, they added it to their constitution 12 years after trying (and failing) to take them by force. That must be legitimate then.
And as for the "seized by force" in 1833, I suppose it plays better than "sent a polite note asking them to go away", which is closer to reality
@Fenianmoder Just as amazing as how many people believe that proximity equals ownership.
How far is Ireland from Great Britain? Certainly less than 300 miles.
@SholaMos1 I think it's more a sense of irritation over politicizing the world cup.
10 years ago all 4 home nations got fined by FIFA for wearing poppy armbands in a qualifier on Armistice Day, 2 of which had checked that their opposition was OK with them, because it was "too political".
@MediaSOI The RN might be in a shocking state, but it's still orders of magnitude more capable than the Argentine Navy (ships literally sinking at their moorings) or Air Force (which is modernizing to aircraft at least 30 years old)
@Tetartos4wv@BBCNews Given that ten years ago FIFA fined all four home nations for wearing poppy armbands on Armistice Day for World Cup qualifiers, then the very least FIFA can do is fine the hell out of them
@Footballtweet I'm old enough to remember when England was fined for wearing poppy armbands when they played a world cup qualifier on Armistice Day.
Their opponents (Scotland) were also fined (about half as much) for wearing identical armbands.
That was ten years ago.
@catchumup@WWG1WGA_QQ When the US attacked Iran?
The other members of the defensive alliance didn't immediately rush ships into what the USN were calling a "kill box", 36 days after the Orange Blancmange dismissed and denigrated the 1000+ dead non-US NATO soldiers from the last time?
@DeFiTracer Well, trying to charge 20% of the cargo cost to maybe defend your ship from the irate people on the shore who you've attacked and are shooting at anything that goes past was always a non-starter.
Especially if the people shooting are only charging 1% to not shoot at you.
@yonkojohn@mark_slapinski 15 years of 50% of the profit after "operating costs", a phrase so nebulous that could cover anything, including depreciation (so basically 50% of anything left after trying to pay off the bridge in 15 years rather than what? 40-50 years) - maybe a sandwich per year.
@Coinvo Right, so it's pay 20% of your cago value to the septics and they'll maybe protect you from the Iranians shooting at you as you traverse a war zone they created?
Or you can pay 1% to the Iranians to not shoot at you.
I'm not sure which is worse, the grift or the pricing.
@imetatronink Well, did you really expect the good, virtuous #FreedomBlockade of light to be cheaper than the evil Iranian blockade of darkness?
Come on, these prices won't gouge themselves
@LizLemon5759@SecWar@TheJusticeDept@DeptofWar Turns out that trying to get a conviction for saying literally the same as Hegseth said a few years earlier is a bit more tricky than they first thought.
Especially when it comes to following illegal orders, that defence kinda went out of fashion at Nuremburg
