Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a phone call with Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos on Thursday to discuss bilateral ties and regional developments.

During the conversation, Araghchi stressed the importance of ensuring that foreign military bases in Cyprus are not used by hostile parties against Iran. Kombos reaffirmed Cyprus’s commitment to international law and peaceful dispute resolution, saying Nicosia has been in contact with the British government to ensure that foreign bases on the island are not used against any country, including Iran.

Araghchi also updated his Cypriot counterpart on the latest negotiations with Oman over the Strait of Hormuz, as well as recent developments in Iran’s relations with Ukraine and Bulgaria.
