The libre software was created to protect the rights of consumers: when they buy software, they must get the whole thing, not a part: (0) ability to run, (1) ability to learn from how it is done, (2) ability to redistribute, (3) ability to modify.

Well, this was an excellent strategy against Microsoft and alike. But today, it turns it back to individual developers, investing years and their money to do the R&D - and then having large companies just stealing the result.

This is fixable - by what I call zk-libre software.

Zk-libre software grants the following FIVE core freedoms to the consumer:
(I) ability to run,
(II) ability to learn - from reverse-engineering, or docs and specs, coming with it,
(III) ability to redistribute,
(IV) ability to modify a reverse-engineered version or a re-implementation, created by learning the specs and docs,
(V) ability to ensure the software has no backdoors and is formally-verifiable to be safe and secure, as well as proven not to misuse the user data.

It also protects DEVELOPERS rights, their intellectual work and allows them to receive the reward and funding they deserve.

These all are achieved by zk-proofs of the software properties. It would take decade(s) to make it possible, but we should start already today.

The software which will be developed by individuals and meritocratic teams, with no spirit of egalitarianism and leftism, poisoning “open source” fake idol of today.

This is a landslide and no one talks about it.

Since 2023, two Swiss Cantons have voted to include the Right to Digital Integrity in their constitution with more than 94% and 91% scores.

One will vote this year, four are debating it in their Parliament. From the four, one has explicit support from the government and we can expect a vote in 2026.

The city of Strasbourg in France has followed through and voted unanimously a motion pledging to respect its citizens digital integrity.

In Germany, political parties are starting to include it in their programmes.

This is a landslide! Since we pushed the idea more than 15 years ago, we couldn't imagine it was going to go that fast.

It has already real life consequences in Geneva, in the debate on using non-free software in schools, or in the pledge of the government to keep physical access to administrative procedures.

The right to digital integrity even made it to the Swiss Federal Tribunal and was recognized as a fundamental right in a jurisprudence.

It includes the right to an offline life, the right not to be surveilled, measured and analyzed, the right not to be judged by a machine, the right to be forgotten, the right for security in the digital space.

But almost no university, almost no specialist of data protection is studying or mentioning. Even a deep legal research study about digital human rights published in 2024 completely missed to explore the phenomenon.

Data protection specialists, even in Switzerland, continue to disregard this phenomenon arguing we should just double down on failing data protection laws, rather looking for another solution.

It doesn't matter, adoption will just continue. Why? Because it helps local politicians to answer simple questions like: should we upgrade to office 365, should we use some foreign cloud service, should we just send the profile data of our children to another country for free?

Many governments are saying we have no alternative. But this is just a lie, pushed by lazy people that prefer staying in their comfort zone and are promoted in doing so.

The Right to Digital Integrity is turning the tide. It is about stopping to build public services that harm peoples digital integrity.

In Luzerne, they understood that. At the same time the government fired the security chief for refusing to endorse implementing Office 365, the Parliament introduce a motion to add the right to digital integrity to its constitution, because protecting their citizens is more important than keeping some people in their comfort zone.

Many underestimate the risk of not having censorship-resistent high-load computing (able to run at least linear algebra in parallel
Mode - what humans call "AI" and "ML" today) - and overestimate the value of money comparing to it.

When you have a gun and is among some apes, it doesn't matter how much "sound and hard money" those apes have.

Intelligence (as an ability to outperform others in your computing capacity in creating models of the world around) is the ultimate "gun" - and all humans, not able to do that outperformance, are the apes.
