Lost one of my biggest customer because of my greed....He does not ask if prices of the things he buy have dropped or not, he will just send the items he need...I will gather it, prepare invoice and send him then he will transfer before coming to pick them or atimes he will send his dispatch rider...So anytime prices drop i don't inform him or even change prices in the invoice...I kept selling the old prices and cheated him for very long time....One day he decided to come to market by himself....As he came he went to two shops and confirmed prices because his own customers have been complaining to him about his stagnant high prices...He didn't sent me list of what he want that very day but told me he was coming...I waited until 6pm...called him again if he's no longer coming? He said he has come and bought from people that are honest....I purged for the remaining of that day because the guy is my number one big customer and I used greed to milk him....We never reconciled...He moved on....That day made me to change so many things about how i relate with people most especially business partners...

13 years gone already....

An Int'l research company from Europe was looking for an Agric researcher in West Africa. They spoke to one of their contacts in Kenya.

Their contact was speaking with someone in Nairobi and this guy overheard and he said I know a guy from Nigeria he talks agriculture & has done some research he posted and they're good.

They asked him for my handle, they reached out. I was interviewed then faced another 4 different interview panels. Out of 6 people from different West African countries. I was given the job.

A one year research contract, I was 6 months into the contract they're already saying we need you to sign a permanent position with us. You're really good.

That connection changed my life, my career trajectory and where I am today!

The guy that mentioned my name I have never seen him before, I don't follow him, I don't know what he looks like. He follows me from Kenya and mentioned my name where it matters!

I met him last year at a conference, I thanked him and he said no he owes me a thank you bcs they came back to appreciate him for the connection.

My new security guard refused to let the property owner's into their own construction site.

I wasn't on site. They showed up with potential clients to inspect the property.

He stopped them at the gate. Said he needed clearance from me first.

They stood outside in the sun with their clients waiting.

The husband called me. I apologized and asked them to pass the phone to the security.

He refused to collect it.

Said it was unprofessional. I should call his number directly.

Shock first catch me

So I called him. He opened the gate.

One of the clients tipped him on the way in.

Said they were impressed.

You aren't saying the whole truth, sir. Data isn't cheap in Nigeria. As a foreigner, my LGU+ monthly bill in Korea is ₩9,900 [₦9,000] and it's for unlimited local calls, sms and data. I don't even get to use it because Korea has free public WiFi everywhere.

In fact, when regular signals fail, Korean telecom providers (SK Telecom, KT, and LG U+) offer free public Wi-Fi hotspots to keep subscribers connected when outside their standard mobile coverage or data plans like subways or remote areas.

Here’s something I learned the hard way.

I used to lend out my breeding BUCKS to people who didn’t have male goats of their own, and if you wanted to use my buck, you had to pay 3k

Some people charge 2k, but I charged 3k sometimes because of how strong, healthy, and quality my goats were.

In a month, I could make about 10k–15k without doing much. But that business came with a cost.

I lost one of my bucks.

He contracted PPR from another farm. The painful part was that he was already sick and they didn’t even inform me.

They brought him back when the sickness had already become serious and difficult to treat.

I tried my best, but I lost that goat. A goat worth N120k gone just like that because of ordinary 3k.

That was the end of me lending bucks to outsiders.

Now, it’s simple: either you buy my buck or forget it.
