Fellow Ghanaians, listen carefully to how a Finance Minister from the governing National Democratic Congress speaks. Just compare it to how the Former Vice President, failed economist and rudderless leader of the New Patriotic Party, Alhaji Bawumia speaks.
Listen to how the Finance Minister who took inflation from 23.8% in December 2024 to 5.2% today, October 2025.
Listen to the Finance Minister who took lending rate from over 30% in 2024 to 14% today.
Listen to the Finance Minister who took debt to GDP ratio from over 70% in 2024 to 42% today.
Listen carefully and just compare him to Alhaji Bawumia.
🎙️ Messi On Enzo Fernandez during Messi’s Farewell Speech :
🗣️“After I announced my retirement from the national team in 2016, a kid in our group wrote a letter to me asking me to stay for a few more years. That he would be proud to share the pitch with me. The words struck me and I had to change my decision.
4 years later, I won Copa America and Word cup 🏆 with the kid.
The kid is Enzo Fernandez “
Short answer: no. Squatting on your land for a long time, by itself, does not take your title away.
The Supreme Court has said that a squatter is someone who settles on land without claiming any interest in it. Because a squatter makes no claim against you, their possession is not "adverse", so they cannot rely on the 12-year limitation rule. In the Court's words, the idea that squatters gain title after 12 years "is an erroneous statement of the law" (Amidu v Alawiye, 2019).
Long possession is not enough on its own. In Binga Dugbartey Sarpor v Ekow Bosomprah (2020), a woman had been on the land for over 20 years and still lost, because she was there as a caretaker. The same goes for tenants and licensees, who occupy with permission (GIHOC v Hanna Assi).
The real risk is different. If someone takes over your land, shuts you out and openly treats it as their own for 12 unbroken years, section 10 of the Limitation Act, 1972 (NRCD 54) extinguishes your title. That person is not a squatter in law. They are an adverse possessor.
Even a land title certificate won't protect you then. Under section 111(2) of the Land Act, 2020 (Act 1036), you would hold the land in trust for them.
So what’s key is what type of rights the person exercises on the land. It won’t apply to squatters, licencees, tenants, caretakers or anyone on the land with your permission. It only helps someone who possesses the land against you.
Kwaw Worsemao Blay, owner of Polo Beach Club, is the son of former NPP National Chairman Freddie Blay. Freddie briefly took over land from the state-owned Labadi Beach Hotel during the “Year of Return,” but his son ended up constructing a permanent structure on the site, blocking views of the hotel. The authorities warned him to halt the development of the beach club, but he ignored the warning.

Why 🇬🇭 Ghana FA boss Kurt Okraku must follow Carlos Queiroz to resign — just like his Nigerian colleague 🇳🇬 Ibrahim Gusau, who resigned exactly five weeks ago.

Carlos has been in Ghana for less than 6 months and already apologized for a bad performance, yet our association leader has overseen 7 years of disasters and never said sorry for anything.
