A record 165 migrants crossed the English Channel to the UK in a single inflatable boat on Thursday, the largest ever recorded, surpassing the previous record of 128 set earlier this month.

The 13-meter (42-foot) "mega dinghy," roughly the length of a standard bus, was towed into Dover by Border Security Command after making the journey from France.

Overall, 366 migrants arrived on three boats that day, following 172 arrivals on Wednesday, ending an 11-day pause caused by poor weather.

According to Home Office figures, 13,007 people have crossed the Channel in small boats so far this year.

It’s been extremely frustrating to see so many competent people unceremoniously sacked from government. This latest list showing sacked PPS’ makes me despair in particular because PPS-ing is not a glamorous job and so many of these MPs just got on with it, put in the hours and would have been an asset to any Labour government.
