Hi everyone!
I'm excited to share my updated showreel featuring my recent work on #SecretLevel! It's been an incredible journey collaborating with exceptional talent on challenging projects that pushed creative boundaries.
👉 Available for generalist/environment artist roles from late February 2025.

Built AttribDelete V2 for Houdini — instead of typing attribute names, it shows all of them as toggle buttons.
Auto-detects on connection, clears on disconnect. Negate mode included. Free HDA.

Built a Houdini SOP that does Blender's "Minimal Stretch" UV unwrap.
Thought it'd be simple. It wasn't — there are multiple algorithms behind this, each giving a different result.
Implemented all three. Blender's is still the best, but the others slap too.
Rollcage spiritual successor GRIP returns with some new tricks up its sleeve.
Danny checked out the demo for GRIP XR and liked what he saw…

I finally found some time to further develop my Ivy Solver.
I previously implemented spline-based guidance to gently direct how the ivy grows while maintaining a procedural approach. I have now added an option to use a mask to define “avoid” areas, preventing ivy from growing on specific surfaces like windows and doors.
Next, I want to improve the way the hanging strands extend, making them feel more natural.

Okay, a little more work was needed on this so that it can handle multiple guidelines. I also added an option to add some breathing room so that the ivy can expand and still follow the guideline.

A new update has just been added to the Particle FX Workshop:
Blade Erosion FX
In this project, we create a complete shot from scratch of a blade peeling away through dark, high-tech energy to reveal a corrupted version underneath.
The update covers:
- advanced particle workflows through VEX
- vellum peeling and disintegration effects
- custom procedural masks through instancing
- advanced look development and compositing techniques
This update is completely free for everyone already enrolled in the workshop.
And if you’ve been thinking about joining, the Spring Sale is currently live with 20% off all courses until May 12.
Native Linux support is now available for InstaMAT and InstaLOD, Abstract's tools for texturing and geometry optimization.
Free Pioneer license users are also included: https://t.co/mo1ElGZ5Ui

I just found out that the @metmuseum now offers downloadable #3D models for some of their artworks. The link below should take you to all the pieces that include a 3D model, although a few entries don’t seem to have the download option yet. The quality isn't the same as Megascans, but it's still super cool to have this available.

@IsThisA3DModel@notiansans Learn Python, or at least ask Claude for a Python script to accomplish this. Do you really need to ask for a $200 tool every time you need something? Yes, there is a $20 tier, but let's see how far you can go with the token consumption.
been working on moonfish, an obsidian writing companion. i see it as a small experiment in ambient/calm computing:
keystrokes ripple a pond; sentences become fish; moons keep the weeks writing.
There's an extra long Patron Show this month as
@dannyodwyer discusses big changes / updates coming to /noclip as we approach our 10th birthday last this year.

I converted the #VEX documentation into Markdown so I can use it in #Obsidian to build my own interconnected reference library. The goal is to link each VEX function to practical examples showing how it’s used.
In this example, when I open the inprimgroup function, I’ve added two code snippets demonstrating real‑world usage.
If anyone’s interested, I can also share the Python script I wrote to convert the original .txt docs into Markdown for use in #Obsidian.

Ive been building a real-time bridge between Unreal Engine and Fusion... because I need something like this for my own virtual production workflow...
Its still an early independent prototype... but the core idea is already working... a live Unreal viewport/camera feed inside Fusion for real-time compositing tests...
I call this PlateBridge...
If you work in VFX, virtual production, or real-time pipelines... would something like this be useful in your workflow?
FYI: This is not affiliated with Epic Games or Blackmagic Design. Im not selling anything and theres no download at this stage...
