HEROIC RETURN OF THE THIRD CONTINGENT FROM HAITI
The National Police Service yesterday, 24th March 2026, warmly received its third contingent of officers returning from deployment in Haiti under the Multinational Security Support (MSS) Mission. The officers arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), where they were received by the National Security Adviser, Dr.Monicah Juma, and the Inspector General of Police, Mr.Douglas Kanja.
The contingent was accompanied by the Deputy National Security Adviser, Mr.Joseph Boinnet; the Deputy Inspector General, Kenya Police Service, Mr.Eliud Lagat; the Chief of Staff for APS, Mr.James Kamau, SAIG; and the Director of Corporate Communication and NPS Spokesperson, Mr.Muchiri Nyaga, AIG.
The 208 officers who returned formed part of a larger contingent deployed to Haiti under the Kenya-led Multinational Security Support (MSS) Mission, tasked with supporting the Haitian National Police (HNP) in combating gang violence, restoring public safety, and securing critical infrastructure.
The MSS played a critical role in securing vital infrastructure such as the airport, seaport, road networks, and major transport corridors—ensuring the safe movement of civilians and the delivery of humanitarian assistance. They also contributed to institutional rebuilding efforts, including supporting the Haiti National Police Academy, which is now training its third cohort, and the re-establishment of the Armed Forces College.
Speaking at the reception, Dr.Monicah Juma lauded the officers for their professionalism, commitment, and integrity, noting that their service had brought pride to both the National Police Service and the nation at large. She encouraged them to share their experiences and lessons learned in order to strengthen future operations both locally and internationally.
In his remarks, the Inspector General commended the officers for their valour, discipline, and dedication to duty. He assured them of continued welfare support, including mental health and counselling services, as part of the post-mission debrief process.
Also in attendance were senior officers, including the Principal Deputy to the Deputy Inspector General, Administration Police Service, Dr.Masoud Mwinyi, SAIG; the Commandant of the General Service Unit, Mr.Ranson Lolmodoni, SAIG; the Commandant of the Border Police Unit, Mr.Davis Lomwatu, SAIG; the Commandant of the National Police College Embakasi ‘A’, Mr.Isaac Alimaa, SAIG; and the Deputy Commandant of the Anti-Stock Theft Unit, Mr.Bernard Mbatha, AIG; among others.

PLANETARY PARADE !
Tonight, Saturday, February 28 2026, six planets will align in the western sky after sunset, creating a rare and spectacular celestial display. Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune will appear together in what is known as a “planetary parade.”
This is one of the best evenings to observe them, simply look toward the western horizon just after sunset to witness this remarkable alignment.
🔭 To enhance your viewing experience, use a telescope or astronomy apps such as Stellarium to help identify the planets and navigate the night sky with ease.
