I am a neuroradiologist and neuroimaging scientist currently on the faculty at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University in St. Louis.
I'm excited to share that on February 1, 2027, I'll be joining @IURadiology as Division Chief of Neuroradiology and Professor of Radiology with tenure.
IU combines outstanding clinical neuroradiology with one of the nation's leading environments for Alzheimer's research at @iadrc_iu. I'm looking forward to building the division, training the next generation of neuroradiologists and bringing advanced brain imaging closer to earlier diagnosis and prevention of neurodegenerative disease.
My sincere thanks to @jwallen_neuro, @ASaykin, the IU Radiology team, as well as to my colleagues at @WashUMedMIR, @WashUMedADRC, and @washumedicine for over eight wonderful years.

Can an LLM close the generalist–subspecialist gap? In @RSNA#Radiology, GPT-5-Thinking matched subspecialists on 1,000 orbital and head-and-neck MRI reports and lifted generalists' head-and-neck accuracy from 47% to 61%.

💡 New @umiamimedicine study published in JAD finds that combining blood-based biomarkers with specialized cognitive testing significantly improves prediction of functional decline in older adults at risk for Alzheimer’s disease.

🧠 We are excited to share our new paper led by Anna Hofmann: "Usage and positivity rates of Alzheimer's disease biomarkers in a memory clinic," published in Alzheimer's & Dementia: https://t.co/ni4urumi5c
In this study of real-world data from the Washington University Memory Diagnostic Center (MDC), a specialty memory clinic that sees ~4,000 patients per year with memory and thinking concerns, we examined how Alzheimer's disease (AD) biomarkers are actually being used in clinical practice and their positivity rates across biomarker modalities (CSF tests, amyloid PET, and blood tests).
Key findings:
1️⃣ Biomarker testing increased by 7-fold over four years
2️⃣ Biomarker positivity rates were approximately 70% in the 1,136 patients tested
3️⃣ Females and White individuals had higher rates of positivity
🩺 Thanks to all the co-authors and clinicians caring for these patients!

Prof. Tammie Benzinger, MD, PhD, helps lead groundbreaking research through the Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer Network. She discusses the network's impact and how changes in federal funding could impact what comes next on NPR's “All Things Considered." https://t.co/PYInzp1pJz
Kudos to Assistant Prof. Ashwin Singh Parihar, MD, & #radres Farzaneh Rahmani, MD, for receiving the @RSNA Radiology Editor’s Recognition Awards With Special Distinction! This honor highlights their exceptional commitment to high-quality, timely and scholarly peer review.
Associate Prof. @cyrusraji and his research team's work was featured in @StLouisAmerican, where they discussed the link between obesity and dementia risk and the implications for the Black community.
Our meta-analysis (23 studies) out of @WashUMedMIR and published in the official journal of @WorldObesity, Obesity Reviews, finds semaglutide doesn’t just lower weight—it significantly reduces visceral fat, the dangerous fat wrapped around your organs ❤️🧠 Even more intriguing: large U.S. data suggest an ~11% lower Alzheimer’s risk among users. Weight loss drug…or metabolic & brain health therapy? #Obesity #Alzheimers #semaglutide

Sensory impairments are increasingly recognized as critical risk factors for dementia. A new supplementary issue in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease, guest edited by @WillaBrenowitz, myself, and others, compiles great work exploring the links between sensory loss and AD/ADRD.
