Sneak peek behind the scenes at @ABC Eyewitness News 🎥 during #StrokeAwarenessMonth.
Stroke remains the 5th leading cause of death in the U.S., the 2nd leading cause of death worldwide, and the #1 cause of long-term adult disability. Yet up to 80% of strokes are preventable, underscoring the importance of recognizing and addressing modifiable risk factors.
With 1.9 million neurons lost every minute without blood flow to the #brain, early recognition and rapid treatment are essential. Remember the acronym “BE FAST” — because time is brain. 🧠
We also discussed the tremendous impact of #AI in accelerating stroke detection, reducing time to thrombectomy, and improving patient outcomes.
Grateful to @abc7tony and @ABC7 for the opportunity to help bring these important conversations to the public and to highlight how #innovation in #Neuroradiology is transforming stroke care.

Grateful for the opportunity to join @ABC Eyewitness #News to discuss the evolving landscape of #stroke prevention, rapid diagnosis, and the growing role of #AI in acute stroke care with @abc7tony during #StrokeAwarenessMonth.
Despite major advances in #medicine, stroke remains one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide. What many people may not realize, however, is that 80% of strokes can be prevented through earlier identification and management of modifiable risk factors.
When a stroke occurs, every second matters. The brain loses nearly 2 million #neurons each minute blood flow is interrupted, which is why public awareness of stroke symptoms is so critical. Remember to “BE FAST” — balance, eyes, face, arms, speech, time. Early recognition saves brain tissue, improves recovery, and saves lives. 🧠
We also explored how #AI is transforming stroke workflows by enabling faster detection of large vessel occlusions (#LVO), streamlining communication between care teams, and reducing time to life-saving #thrombectomy. These #technologies are already having a meaningful impact on outcomes for patients across the country.
Thank you to @ABC7 for helping elevate awareness around stroke education and for highlighting the exciting #imaging #innovations shaping the future of #Neuroradiology and emergency #brain care.

According to the American Heart Association, stroke is a leading cause of disability in the United States, and approximately 80% of strokes are preventable.
This National Stroke Awareness Month, Neuroradiologist and Medical Director of RadNet West, Dr. Suzie Bash joined @ABC7 to share what everyone should know: the warning signs, the risk factors you can control, and why early detection and proactive imaging are critical to protecting your brain health.
