Gentle reminder to strive for progress instead of perfection. Let's go through this journey together to love, trust and accept our bodies. We got this. ✨ #PCOSAwarenessMonth
@aishwajyh its not a cause but being overweight aggravates the condition and causes the symptoms to show up more. having pcos is more likely also to cause weight gain and you end up seeing more people with pcos being over weight
Of course, they're certainly useful, but they're not the entire solution. Some of you really need to stop disregarding the daily experiences and ongoing hardships of people with PCOS before telling them to go to eat a vegetable or go to the gym.
But when you don't see results right away, it can be stressful and depressing. This also leads to an increase in cortisol which, by the way, isn't helpful for people with PCOS. I'm not arguing that healthy habits aren't necessary for managing PCOS.
It wasn't until my late teens that I was finally diagnosed. I was urged to lose weight and was put on the pill. Managing PCOS isn't as simple or cheap as it sounds. Changing your diet and lifestyle takes time, effort, and money. There was a time when I tried my best, desperately.
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, when people say that proper exercise and eating habits can help treat #PCOS, I want to share my own experience. I've had PCOS since I was a child, even though I was healthy, athletic, and ate well.
I felt great. I also started seeing positive changes within a month after I started treatment. I'm just saying, it makes a world of difference when doctors listen to us, try to find underlying causes, and give proper treatment plans instead of providing band-aid solutions.
As someone struggling with #PCOS, I've been consulting gynecologists in Maldives since I was 18. Most simply asked me to lose weight and go on the pill. I recently consulted a gynecologist and endocrinologist in Malaysia and for once, I didn't feel disheartened afterwards.
Not every fluffy person you see is that way by choice. We go through so much. Less judging & spread positivity…
Kindnesses goes a long way 😌

How ignorant are some doctors to assume that anyone on birth control pills is married, and say that giving birth as soon as possible is the best way to "cure" PCOS? At least listen to individual concerns instead of giving the same "treatment plan" for everyone. #CystersMVProtest
