Václav Havel by se dnes dožil devadesáti let.

Nepatřím k jeho politickým ani ideovým následovníkům a bylo by nepoctivé se za něj dnes vydávat. V mnohém bychom se neshodli tehdy a neshodli bychom se patrně ani dnes.

To ale nic nemění na respektu, který si zaslouží jeho osobní odvaha v době nesvobody, jeho role v listopadu 1989 ani jeho mimořádný podíl na návratu naší země mezi svobodné a respektované státy světa.

Václav Havel měl své pevné názory a nebál se je vyslovovat ani tehdy, když nebyly většinové. A byl připraven za ně nést osobní důsledky. To je vlastnost, které bychom si v politice měli vážit bez ohledu na to, zda s konkrétními názory souhlasíme.

Václav Havel byl jednou z velkých osobností našich moderních dějin.

Dnes by mu bylo devadesát let.
