Today I celebrate my personal 1000th day in a row of @basepaint_xyz 🥳!!!

That's right, I've added "check in with Basepaint" to my personal daily survival checklist, right next to eat/sleep/breathe. I love what we're building here & love our global community of artists connected by @base

The wildest thing is, I'm not even #1 on the leaderboard... @BuidlMeThis is ahead of me by 1 day in streak 🔥, and @Jota19781 is ahead by a few in just number of canvas painted 🎨 (not streak).

When I wake up, one of the first thoughts to cross my mind is, “I wonder what the canvas looks like right now?” While I was asleep, a global community of artists connected by Basepaint had collaborated to transform an idea into a masterpiece.

A unique artwork, contained within a 256x256 pixel canvas, every single day for 1,000 days in a row. Scroll the gallery (https://t.co/S9UvPqruoc) to witness the eras of this epic art project: early days of chaotic collages with clashing styles & ideas, that eventually gave way to more structured concepts driven by stewards of the project taking greater ownership over their theme submissions. Witness the growth of a community: solving unique problems of collaboration, learning together what works & what doesn’t.

I used to compare Basepaint to a graffiti wall, but now I realize it is so much more… that wall would have to be accessible at any time from anywhere with internet access, would need to include a way to remember every mark ever made & reward the hands that painted it, and would need some kind of message board where the artists could share, laugh, argue, cheer each other on & even build everlasting bonds of camaraderie & friendship. 🐸💙
