Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Raji'un
("Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed, to Him we shall return.")
It is with deep sadness that we have received the news of the sudden passing of Chief Abdimalik Siid Abass (Bukurow ) of Township Location, Mandera East Constituency.
Together with fellow Members of the National Assembly Committee on Administration and Internal Security, we conducted an oversight visit to the GSU camp in Mombasa and witnessed deeply concerning living conditions facing our officers.
It is unacceptable for officers entrusted with safeguarding our nation to live in overcrowded rooms, rely on poorly maintained shared sanitation facilities, and endure leaking roofs and inadequate amenities.
Today, I had the distinct honor of welcoming the President of Republic of Kenya H.E. @WilliamsRuto to Mandera, where he presided over the Mandera County Women Empowerment Programme at Mandera Stadium in Mandera East Constituency.
This programme demonstrates our shared commitment to empowering women, strengthening livelihoods, and accelerating development in our region. From investments in energy and infrastructure to irrigation and education, Mandera is firmly on the path of transformation.
Together, we remain focused on delivering inclusive growth and creating opportunities that uplift every member of our community.
The function was graced by CS Health, Aden Duale @HonAdenDuale , CS Geoffrey Ruku @gk_ruku (Public Service, Human Capital Development & Special Programmes), Mandera Governor Mohamed Adan Khalif, Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi Jiir, Marsabit Governor Mahmoud Ali, Northern Kenya Senators led by Ali Roba, as well as MPs, MCAs, and other distinguished leaders.
I joined colleagues at the Kenya International Convention Centre for the United Democratic Alliance–Orange Democratic Movement Joint @TheODMparty Parliamentary Group meeting, led by the President of Republic of Kenya H.E. William Samoei Ruto @WilliamsRuto , Vice President Prof @_KithureKindiki and ODM Party Leader Sen. Dr Oburu Odinga @DrOburu_O , alongside other national leaders.
During the meeting, we reaffirmed our commitment to advancing the Broad-Based Government agenda.
We remain focused on uniting the country, stabilising the economy, lowering the cost of living, boosting agriculture, expanding health coverage under the Social Health Authority, and creating more opportunities for our youth.
We also agreed to form a parliamentary mediation committee to fast-track the implementation of the remaining legislative proposals from the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO).
Our commitment is clear is to deliver real progress and inclusive development for all Kenyans.
I strongly condemn the cowardly attack on Ibrahim Derow Adan (Shaam), Assistant Chief of Bokolow Sub-Location in Mandera East. Violence against those who serve our communities is unacceptable and must be rejected by all.
I thank the people of Mandera County for their continued prayers and solidarity, and also appreciate the Government of Kenya led by HE the President of Republic of Kenya @WilliamsRuto for the swift support shown during this difficult time. We remain confident that justice will prevail and that those responsible for this cowardly act will be held fully accountable.
Let us continue to pray for his full and speedy recovery.
May Allah grant him strength and complete healing, InshaAllah.
Today, I received Ibrahim Derow Adan (Shaam), the Assistant Chief of Bokolow Sub location in Mandera East Constituency who was recently shot by unknown gunmen in Mandera County.
I strongly condemn this cowardly and senseless act against a dedicated public servant who has been serving our community with commitment. Such acts of violence threaten the peace and stability of our region and must be firmly rejected by all.
I call upon the relevant security agencies to move with speed and ensure that those responsible for this heinous act are identified, arrested, and brought to justice. Criminal elements have no place in our society.
I wish him a quick and full recovery and stand in solidarity with him and his family during this difficult time. I also urge everyone to keep him in their prayers and pray for his speedy healing.
May Allah grant him strength and restore his health InshaAllah.
I joined fellow leaders from the North Eastern region in a consultative meeting chaired by The Deputy President of Republic of Kenya , Professor @_KithureKindiki in Karen. The meeting brought together over 30 Members of Parliament and Senators from Garissa County, Wajir County, and Mandera County.
We held productive discussions on drought mitigation efforts and reviewed the progress of key development projects including roads, housing, markets, and other critical infrastructure across the region.
The upcoming National Infrastructure Fund presents a great opportunity for the North Eastern region through investments in water harvesting, roads, and energy. These initiatives will help unlock the region’s potential and strengthen its contribution to Kenya’s economic transformation.
At State House, Nairobi, I attended a consultative session with the president of Republic of Kenya H.E. Dr Willaim Ruto ,CGH @WilliamsRuto , where we discussed key priorities to unlock Mandera County’s full potential.
Our discussions centred on accelerating transformative development programmes across our vast county. We prioritised dependable electricity connectivity, improved road infrastructure, sustainable water supply, affordable housing, establishment of modern markets, and the construction of student hostels for each technical college across the six constituencies.
We also explored the immense potential of Northern Kenya as the next frontier for large-scale irrigated agriculture. As leaders, we agreed to begin identifying suitable land for commercial farming to strengthen food security, attract investment, and create meaningful employment opportunities for our youth.
The engagement reaffirmed our shared commitment to inclusive growth and equitable development for the great people of Mandera County.
The meeting brought together key national leaders, including the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport, Davis Chirchir, EGH @davis_chirchir , Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation , Eng. Eric Muuga @mugaa_eric , Principal Secretaries, and the county leadership led by H.E. Mohamed Adan Khalif, Senator Ali Ibrahim Roba, and all Members of Parliament from our county’s six constituencies.
My remarks during the NYOTA Project Fund Disbursement at Mandera Stadium, Mandera East Constituency, Mandera County, where I had the honor of welcoming The President of Republic of Kenya HE Dr @WilliamsRuto and the Depuity President prof @_KithureKindiki.
The event was also graced by distinguished national and local leaders, as we reaffirmed our collective commitment to empowering our youth and general community .
I sincerely thank H.E. President Dr. William Samoei Ruto @WilliamsRuto for agreeing to the construction of the Mandera to Fino and Rhamu to Mandera roads, a transformative project that will greatly benefit our people, especially in Mandera East Constituency where a large section of these roads passes.
I am particularly grateful that the President has confirmed that the Mandera to Fino road will not only be constructed, but upgraded to Class A standard, moving from the originally proposed low seal class. This is a major milestone for the great people of Mandera. A Class A road will significantly enhance durability, connectivity, trade, and long-term economic growth in our region.
This long-awaited development will open up our area, ease movement of people and goods, strengthen security operations, and unlock new opportunities for businesses and our youth.
For years, our people have faced immense challenges due to poor road infrastructure, and this bold decision demonstrates the Government’s strong commitment to ensuring no region is left behind.
As the construction begins soon, InshaAllah, we look forward to the immense transformation this project will bring to Mandera East and the entire county.
Hon. Hussein Weytan
Member of Parliament, Mandera East Constituency.
Today, I had the honor of joining my colleague Hon. Abdi Omar Shurie at a Qur’an Competition held in his constituency, Balambala, Garissa County.
The event was graced by the presence of distinguished leaders, including H.E. Governor Ahmed Abdullahi (Wajir), Senator Abdullahi Haji (Garissa), Hon. Abdisirat Khalif (Nominated), Hon. Saney (Wajir North), Hon. Wario Adhe (North Horr), alongside several renowned religious leaders, county security team and community leaders.
Such gatherings strengthen our faith, nurture unity, and reaffirm our shared commitment to promoting moral values and harmony within our communities.
Today, I officially handed over a diesel engine to farmers in Hareri Town, Arabia Sub-County. The beneficiaries include small- and large-scale farmers consisting of women, youths, and elders who are actively engaged in agricultural production. This support comes at a critical time, as prolonged drought continues to threaten livelihoods and food security in the area.
The diesel engine will support irrigation and land preparation, enabling farmers to overcome climate-related challenges, increase agricultural productivity, and reduce physical labor particularly for women and elderly farmers. Improved access to mechanized support will help farmers make better use of available land and water resources.
By strengthening agricultural production, this initiative will contribute to improved household incomes and enhanced food security across the community. It also supports farmers in adapting to the effects of climate change while sustaining agricultural activities during dry periods.
This intervention represents a meaningful step toward supporting long-marginalized farming communities and empowering them to engage in agriculture as a reliable and sustainable livelihood.
I remain committed to promoting inclusive development and implementing long-term solutions that build resilience against drought and other climate-related challenges.
