Hi Nurses,
For those seeking Canada immigration, some nurses are confusing the immigration and licensing. So, first off they are two separate things.
Immigration part of it, is so you can be in the country legally, either through PR, work permit or study pathway.
For licensing

Today, the Association of Young Nigerian Nurses (AYNN) matched to the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) branch in the School of post basic mental health nursing, Yaba
Although we had a setback as regards the turnout. Regardless, ALUTA CONTINUA
Our goal is to know the reason behind the delay of our certificates of registration since 2023.
We were able to speak with a representative officer of NMCN.
He assured us that steps are being taken currently to get the certificates ready, and soon, it would be available.
We pressured on that phrase "Soon" and demanded that NMCN should give clear information on why this has been held for this long.
We spent approximately 45 minutes in front of the office of NMCN demanding reasons behind the withheld certificates.
The rep couldn't give a clear reason because he said it was above him.
From a very notable leader in the profession, she said a board has been appointed, but the federal government — especially the presidency - needs to sign it.
We await the response from our Abuja team because they were able to see the registrar and a meeting was held.
Thank you @dagbananurse@Maggie_shugaa@aluta_nurse @MHN_janet @nursechriz

On the other hand, I’m glad this skit was posted for the following reasons:
1. The way nursing was portrayed here is exactly how most people outside the profession perceive it. This is who they actually think a nurse is; mere helpers.
2. What you’re seeing here is what really goes on in most cash-driven private hospitals in the country. The two staff at the reception are usually quacks, and even when they have qualifications, they’re often health technology graduates impersonating nurses with no clear job description. They are just there to register patients until the doctor arrives.
3. Most of these hospitals aren’t focused on delivering quality healthcare. They’re money-making businesses for the doctors who own them. Many of these owners are quite rich individuals, but their reluctance to employ qualified personnel, even a doctor who is their colleague to man the clinic in their absence contributes to major mortality in our healthcare system.
4. This also depicts the decay in our healthcare system. The so-called services provided by these patchwork clinics would be effectively handled by functioning primary healthcare centres or comprehensive health facilities.
5. We as healthcare workers need to counter videos like this with proper representation of our roles and correct these widespread misconceptions. More reason why we should embrace content creation as health workers.
In conclusion, This does reflect the reality in most Nigerian hospitals. Thank you @dammiedammie35
