Co-chair of the IA Credentials Group of the Women4EthicalAI platform (UNESCO). Advisor to the Digital Band of ParlAmericas. Member of the expert group of the IA Office (EU Commission) for the creation of the “General Purpose Code of Practice on IA” of the IA Act and of the “Expert Group on Parliaments and Digital Policy” of the “Inter-Parliamentary Union” and the “United Nations Development Programme”.

Author of several books, including “The Empire of Algorithms” (Galerna), presented in more than 8 countries and, “Consumer rights at the crossroads of artificial intelligence: the necessary reform of the defective products directive” (Dykinson), presented at the Madrid Book Fair. Co-author of the Policy Brief “Auditing Algorithms as a way to prevent Algorithmic Bias”, published by the T20 G20 Brazil 2024. @dtapscott , Executive Chairman of the Blockchain Research Institute, is one of the world’s leading authorities on the impact of technology on business and society. He has authored 18 books, including Wikinomics: How Mass Collaboration Changes Everything, which has been translated into over 25 languages. In 2016, with his son Alex, he co-authored the global best seller Blockchain Revolution: How the Technology Behind Bitcoin and Other Cryptocurrencies is Changing the World, now translated into 20 languages.

According to the late, great Clay Christensen of Harvard Business School it is “the book, literally, on how to survive and thrive in this next wave of technology-driven disruption.” Since then, Don has produced a blockchain book series with three books available to date: Supply Chain Revolution, Financial Services Revolution, and most recently, Platform Revolution, which has debuted as the #1 new book on Amazon under business management science.

In 2017, Don and Alex co-founded the Blockchain Research Institute, whose 100+ projects are the definitive investigation into blockchain strategy, use-cases, implementation challenges and organizational transformations. The Blockchain Research Institute has since expanded globally, partnering with organizations around the world to launch five global partner offices, including BRI Africa, BRI Brasil, BRI Europe, BRI Middle East, and BRI Korea.

Don’s next book (fall 2025) is You to the Power of Two: Redefining Human Capability in the Age of Identic AI. Co-authored with Joseph Bradley. The book explores where AI and identity meet -- an emerging era where AI evolves from tools to active participants in our lives.

Don is a member of the Order of Canada and in 2019, then ranked as the 2nd most influential Management Thinker by Thinkers50, joined Professor Christensen, Michael Porter, Peter Drucker and others in the Thinkers50 Hall of Fame. He is an Adjunct Professor at INSEAD and Chancellor Emeritus of Trent University in Ontario where he served as Chancellor 2013-2019.

It is hard to imagine anyone who has been more prolific, profound, and influential in explaining today’s technological revolutions and their impact on the world.
