For me, the 6th of June is about remembering the D Day invasion and those giants who walked before us on 6 June 1944.
This is something else that also happened on the 6th of June. 6 June 2016 - An American officer is assaulted while entering the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, Russian Federation.
Moscow Rules exist for a reason.
While the rest of the world believes the Cold War ended in 1991, I assure you - Russia never received the memo.

What Memorial Day means to me.
Brian - It is hard to fathom that in a few months, you will have been gone a decade. The Lads assembled to visit this morning to tell stories and lies, all of which were (mostly) true. The world is smaller, dimmer without you. You are missed. You are remembered.
They say we die three times. When life leaves the body. When the body is returned to the earth. And finally, when we speak the name of the fallen for the last time.
Hermano, you will live forever.
I am sentimental, which is odd given my former professions.
Yesterday was a big day, and like many that will come, I was not part of it and watched from afar. There is some solace in knowing your child has left the nest and is forging his own path, but it is humbling, nonetheless. It will be a few years before he may need to dance with the elephants and serve the nation, but it’s important to note the milestones along the journey.
Tuesday they were Plebes. Today they are Yuks.
GO ARMY
Happy Pub Day to two authors I truly admire - @JackCarrUSA and @MPWauthor! While I can’t wait for next installment in the James Reece series, I’m thrilled for this new series bringing two of the best in this genre together.
There goes my weekend...
Happy Pub Day to Chad Robichaux and my friend, @JackStewartBook! I was honored to read an early draft of RIPTIDE and I’m thrilled to see it out in the wild. This is a real banger, brimming with authenticity.
You’re going to love it!
This struck a chord with me in no small part because of my former profession. Maskirovka is as real today as it was during the Cold War. As illustrated in my friend @Wiswesser 's new book Tradecraft, Tactics, and Dirty Tricks: Russian Intelligence and Putin's Secret War – it’s less about a specific outcome but rather undermining democracy and spreading doubt. At best, an assassination is next to impossible pull off flawlessly and staging one is beyond implausible. That we’ve reached a point in our society that an educated citizenry believes such as possible – perhaps likely – should be a wake-up call.
Some men want to set the world on fire. Sometimes we can’t see the flames, feel the heat, or smell the smoke. Sometimes it’s the belief in the completely implausible that tells the story.

Tremendous event at the International Spy Museum and an absolute a must read.
Russian Intelligence operates in our backyard and across the globe with reckless abandonment. Frequently, it's less about facilitating a specific outcome and more about spreading chaos and undermining Democracy. Understanding what it looks like is critical to thwarting Moscow's designs.
Know what it looks like and contact the Bureau when you see it.

Happy Pub Day, @BradTaylorBooks !
There are days I wait for all year as if I’m ten years old and it’s early December. This is one of those days. I’ve been a huge fan of Brad Taylor’s Pike Logan series from the first day I stumbled upon a copy of ONE ROUGH MAN in a bookstore outside Charleston, SC fifteen years ago. Honestly, it’s so many things—characters that have come to be real, that over time you seem to know personally, to the locations and the plots. Moreover, it’s Brad’s writing. He brings an authenticity to the page that few others can.
Can’t tell you how excited I am to dig into SHADOW STRIKE. There goes my weekend. I guess someone else is going to have to mow the lawn. Thanks, Brad.
Happy Pub Day, @Wiswesser!
Tradecraft, Tactics, and Dirty Tricks is a rare treat, a thoughtful and nuanced analysis of how Russian Intelligence operates and its strategic impact. Sean Wiswesser is not an academic, but a former practitioner. A former senior CIA operations officer with deep experience in the field working against our adversaries. Thoughtful and timely, this is a must read. More than merely a glimpse behind the curtain, Tradecraft, Tactics, and Dirty Tricks serves to frame not only how Russian Intelligence truly operates, but how they shape narratives and strategic conflict.

🎉BOOK Publication Day!!
My book: Tradecraft, Tactics, and Dirty Tricks, Russian Intelligence and Putin's Secret War -launches officially today, "pub day"!
🎬Below is a really well-done promotional TRAILER and clip...all credit to @USNIBooks, and their promotional team. Please take couple mins to watch it, you'll enjoy it I promise!
It is well done not just because it is good short movie making, but because it gives the nuances of our profession in the fine details, and from my book...
For example:
👉Russian intelligence officers working for us still retain great PRIDE in the successes and accomplishments of their services, even after making the decision to work for us. You see that reflected in the clip...
They detest the corruption--I talk about that at length in the book and as a motivation for espionage by Russians, and not just Russians. But they still retain their pride and why shouldn't they...as I mention in the book, they never give up on Mother Russia. That is the hint of pride and reflection you see in the agent in the clip.
And the debriefer in the clip ...there is a professionalism between and among handler and agent, and with us, even as they/we spar over the history. I have been there many times with Russian intelligence officers...
So have many of my colleagues across the IC with agents, defectors, Russians who became our citizens.
👉All the Russian cases and spies featured by name or in the snippets in the trailer (Rudolph Abel up front, Tolkechev, or the others in pictures, like the Russian "Ghost Stories" Illegals of Anna Chapman, Heathfield, Foley, etc. pictured at the end)...these are ALL cases discussed in my book and its chapters.
🚨Russian agents said to me many times---this is a war, a secret war, declared by Putin against the West a long time ago. We just haven't been aware of it as societies. We are their "main enemy"-their term for the United States, always will be...
And as the Russian in the clip says in Russian at the end...well, I don't want to spoil it! Listen to the clip and if you don't speak Russian, I included in comments what he says...
Thank you for watching and for supporting the book and its MISSION to counter Russian intelligence operations, sabotage, and espionage! The Book is out...TODAY!!

Army Rugby's season ended this past Saturday with a loss to Navy. Such is the way. Only one team ends their season without a loss.
Next season begins in a few months. So very proud of these young men.
Brothers on Three.
“Book mail” always makes the day special. This arrived a few days ago. HEAD OF THE SNAKE by @GaryQberry, the latest installment in the Case Younger series, is a true banger. I’ve loved the series from the beginning, and this installment does not disappoint.
Order yours today.

Happy Pub Day to my good friend, @RyanSteckAuthor!
Loved how you have kept Alex Hawke alive. MONARCH was amazing and I can’t wait to dig into WARMONGER. Ted Bell would be proud.
I've been looking forward to this for quite a while. I've been hooked on the Peter Ash series since I first stumbled upon THE RUNAWAY a few years ago. Nick Petrie is both an amazing talent and a great guy. Can't wait to dig into this.
Happy Pub Day @_NickPetrie_ !
