If you register the vehicle and put John Doe as the owner. It is private motor car
If you register the vehicle and put John Doe Solutions Inc as the owner and provide the business documents. It is light goods vehicle

@HammerToe If they did the test on a belta and pass they have a private motor car license. If your friend registered their business at Caipo and then registered the business as the owner of that NV200. Then that NV200 is a Light Goods Vehicle.

Heavy Duty can also be automatic or manual.. it is just that it doesn't really make sense going for truck license in automatic.. our fire trucks here in Barbados are heavy duty automatic tho ...

Because persons with a private motor car license are not suppose to be driving a light goods vehicle.. it is in the traffic act...

Back on this private motor car and light goods discussion for a bit.. they are some instances where a person had a private motor car license.. and drove someone's light goods vehicle.. got in an accident in which they were in the wrong and the insurance refuse to cover them..

The vehicle must be a certain length, height and have a certain tyre size in order to be a light goods vehicle. that is why a swift or any small car can't be a light goods vehicle..but somehow chefette got a weight board on some if not all their swifts..but hey.Dis is Barbados.

This is a weight board. As long as you see this on a vehicle it is a Light Goods Vehicle / Commercial vehicle.

When you go to do the driving test and the testing officer gets to the car he would confirm that you are doing Light Goods Vehicle by looking at the vehicle for what is called a weight board but he has to check to see if it's automatic or manual when he gets in the car.

Light goods vehicle does not mean just manual.. Light Goods Vehicle can be either automatic or manual.

Ppl ask what is the reason why driving instructors ask to wear enclosed shoes... the answer is this.. it's safer.. the pedals can sometimes get hook up in your flip flops or your slippers might slip off your foot...

Funny law but it is what it is... I personally don't like to teach students unless they have their learner's permit with them...

Butttt as long as you are learning to drive and the instructor decides to pick you up during someone's lesson.. you musssst have that learner's permit..
